Angelina Jolie Wants Her Kid in 'Changeling' Trailer
Filed under: Drama, Awards, Cannes, Mystery & Suspense, Universal, Angelina Jolie, New York, Oscar Watch, Trailers and Clips
As we've started to get our fair share of trailers for the coming prestige projects -- Frost/Nixon, The Soloist, Zack and Miri Make a Porno -- I was curious as to why we'd yet to get one for Clint Eastwood's period drama, Changeling, if it were set to open by the end of next month. Particularly after Kim's Cannes review, I wanted to get a proper glimpse beyond a brief clip...
Perhaps hearing my prayers or just tiring of my complaints, Yahoo! Movies saw fit to post the trailer (watch it after the jump as well), in which a young mother (Angelina Jolie) in 1928 Los Angeles finds herself standing up against a corrupt police department when her missing son is returned, or rather replaced by a different child altogether.
Even if the same piece of score hadn't been used in both of their trailers, I'd still have felt a need to draw a correlation between this and last October's missing-kids-and-corrupt-cops powerhouse, Gone Baby Gone (of course, it doesn't hurt that Amy Ryan shows up in both of them). From Eastwood's end comes a particular tinge of Mystic River, and so far as I'm concerned, all of those signs point to something substantial waiting for us when Changeling opens in limited release on October 31.

The heading says Angelina Jolie wants her kid in the trailor, but the article you printed doesn't say one thing about her kid. What are you talking about???

I think the title is referring to the plot of the movie. I think the title is better understood formatted this way; In "Changeling" trailer, Angelina Joile wants her kid. (as in her character, not the real person)
I was confused by this at first too, don't feel bad.

Speaking of the score, this is actually the third time that score has turned up in the last two weeks, it was on Appaloosa and was it Frost/Nixon? I'm not sure. The trailer guys need to find newer scores.
PS. Angelina's really good in the trailer.

I really wanted to see this movie, but not now. I think Angelina always acts too hard. It just feels fake. Too bad, I can think of so many other actresses who I believe could have really made this something.

Yeah ,that's why a user at AwardsDailyForums who watched it at Cannes said that Jolie's performance was better than Marion Cotillard's in LVER. Also the critics at Cannes all said Jolie was Oscar worthy.

I just disagree. It didn't feel authentic, I don't care who says what, it is just my view point. I don't need others to tell me what I think is good acting or not. Thanks for sharing others views.

I think that Angelina Jolie outdid herself in this movie , though we cannot judge and throw negative comments on a few minutes trailer.
Her acting has always been a double response to what her role requires : the first is portraying the character in context and techniques , and this is where most actors stop , but what makes her different and better is that she adds herself , some her personality , to every character , she finds a common ground between her and the role and plays on that. This is why she is The Angelina Jolie.

You say you can not judge negatively by a trailer but yet you can say she did a great job.....isn't logical. I didn't think the acting was authentic in the trailer and I'm guessing that a trailer is usually the best stuff you've got.

hehe well my positive judgment was not mainly based on the trailer , but on the positive and encouraging criticism in Cannes , and me following the making of this movie this past year. And I personnaly think that when you are about to make a negative judgment it is better not to say anything, to actually watch the movie , put yourself in the context of it , see if it in concordance , and then we can throw the word "authenticity". Because an actress is authentic if her acting blends with the role and the context.
So what I am saying is that , you may be sitting in your room , following many different subjects at the same time , and then you watch this trailer which is a drama , and certainly you will feel that the acting isn't authentic, the story builds up and the "over acting" will not be much "over" when the culminating point and the actual drama are taking place.
Let's watch and then judge , ok ?:)

I did not just base my thoughts on the trailer alone. I have been very interested in this movie for awhile due to very personal reasons.....I can relate to the story. So when I said it didn't feel authentic I am sticking to it. It is just an opinion, I didn't connect to her acting, so I will not see the movie now. Peace.

UGH...Personal...Not authentic (used several times in these few post!...whatever! People will say anything to bash Angelina. Those that hate her, just do and they hate her movies too.
Personally--WOW! She is amazing. You say, I really want to see this movie, but not now--AS IF, you had set yourself up for something..in which case only 1 or 2 actors whose faces are floating in your head, would have worked. Its unfair to the actress playing the part that you make sweeping judgments without extend them and the writers/producers the courtesy of actually watching their body of work.
I love what Angelina does on the screen AND Around the World and I can't wait to see the movie. Maybe you should just lighten up a bit and go and enjoy the movie.
I can't stand when people fee the need to NIT PICK a movie to death--whats the use...just ENJOY.
