Christina Ricci is Going to the Renaissance Faire

It's the movie that just keeps on going -- just like its subject matter on a 109 degree summer's day. The Hollywood Reporter says that Ye Olde Times, which saw Jack Black and Lindsay Lohan visiting the Ren Faire has now been revamped into All's Faire in Love. It lost Black and Lohan along the way, but it's aquired Christina Ricci, Owen Benjamin, Cedric the Entertainer, Bill Engvall, and Nadine Velazquez. The plot sounds as though it has gone an overhaul as well -- the story is now centered on Benjamin, whose shiny new drama degree has landed him a job with a Renaissance Faire theater troupe. Reduced to being their fetch boy, he meets a Faire virgin played by Ricci. That's a virgin to the Renaissance Faire, not the Shakesperean sense of "a faire virgin." But his swashbuckling colleagues aim to disrupt his budding romance.
Cedric is taking the role of Professor Shockworthy, who narrates the story in the fairy-tale style. Of the original cast, only Matthew Lillard seems to remain. Everyone else ever associated with the project has vanished, and has been replaced by Ann-Margaret and Louise Griffiths. The director job has also shifted from writer Robert A. White to Scott Marshall.
So much upheaval is rarely good for a film -- and while I adore Ricci, and find her a trade up from Lohan, it bodes ill to lose Cary Elwes (who is necessary in any film with tights) and Black. As cheesy as the premise sounds, the world of Renaissance Faire is ripe for a really good comedy. I know, I've spent too many years there. I don't know if All's Faire will be the send-up I'm looking for, but I'd like to hope it is.

I think it sounds great. And Ricci will certainly fit the role to a tee....HUGE step up from Lohan.
I'm hoping that it will be realistic and fun, and I think it looks like it's shaping up to be that. I like what Scott Marshall did with Keeping Up With the Steins, and I think he'll do a good job on this. The world of Ren Faires is certainly an entertaining and fun one...as a former faire worker myself, I can definitely say that if they capture the true spirit of the faire, we'll all be very entertained with this movie.
Kudos to all of those involved! I am very excited!

This was supposed to be a "hush hush" film due to the locale in Michigan, and where the cast are residing. Let's just hope this film makes it in this area, since our economy isn't making it. Our health care and jobs aren't making it either. Even our "great" state needs to re-review our state Medicaid system for the real victims that need health care.

It's been a blast, I mean, there is some negative stuff, waiting around, having to repete parade over and over again, but I have been loving the fact that we are in a movie!

Hey Guys, I happened to be lucky enough to be brought in and did some back round acting in this movie. I got to meet and talk to Christina Ricci and Louise Griffiths. I am very greatful to have just gotten that opportunity i did by meeting those two Beautiful women. I think that the movie will be a big hit, it looked like everyone was having a great time filming it.

I am a cast member at the Ren Fair in Holly, MI. and I for one can say that its all true indeed. I myself have seen some of the actors and I aswell have been in some of the scenes. I hope for all the best of this movie and it is also the most excitment the fair has had in last five years at least.

The original premise with Jack Black sounded much funnier. The new plot sounds like yet another tepid romantic comedy with the requisite goofy sidekick characters wearing silly costumes and taking prat falls. Good strong ale weakened into watered down wine -- too bad!

The script was adjusted again from what is posted here. The storyline actually follows Benjamin who has NOT graduated yet. He is a college Quarterback who failed to attend his drama class and is required by his professor (Cedric) to work the Ren Faire in order to play as a senior.
From having reviewed the first version and getting first hand experience in the new one, I would have to say the new theme of the movie carries very well and they have an ideal cast to pull it off.
Though, I may be a bit biased. ::wink::

Yes, I was at the Michigan Renaissance Festival where this movie was filmed. I ACTUALLY work there. Miss Ricci was heard saying that... "All these people who work at these stupid festivals and these people that come to these rediculous festivals, are all FREAKS, WIERDOS, AND LOSERS" This was over heard by several people. So Christinia Ricci can shove it up her snobby little arse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been going to this Ren Fest every year for the past ten or so, even going so far as participating in the first Ren themed cruise they put on. I'm a Ren geek through and through and was excited to see a movie being filmed there while I enjoyed myself at the very familiar haunts. I hope the movie comes off well, and perhaps can open the eyes of others. Everyone knows the 'freaks' and 'weirdos' have a hell of a lot more fun in the long run.
