Groovy Early Art from 'The Incredibles'

I wanted to call this a Fan Made post, and I suppose you can technically say artist Lou Romano is a "fan" of the designs he produces, but it's a weird line and so we're not attaching any labels. Romano, of course, is a member of the art department over at Pixar Studios, and over on his blog he's just thrown up a slew of early concept images for The Incredibles, Jack-Jack Attack and Mr. Incredible and Friends. Romano introduces the enormous set by saying they're "some other samples of Incredibles work I did between 2000-2004. Development/color styling/and dvd bonus materials." The image above (one of my personal favorites), he calls "more of a gag drawing."
The Incredibles happens to be right up there with my favorites of Pixar -- and with the popularity of superhero movies and the popularity of The Incredibles, I'm real surprised Pixar isn't looking to make a sequel -- and, instead, is churning out a Cars 2 and a Toy Story 3. Bogus, I say! Check out a few of Romano's images in the gallery below, then head over to his page to see a ton more. Would you be down for an Incredibles sequel? Or are you happy with more Cars and Toy Story?

The Incredibles is the only Pixar movie I've ever wanted a sequel to. Where is it?!

I remember historically Brad Bird didn't want to rush it, which I can respect. Right now he is working on 1906. He is obviously an artist and money isn't the only thing on his mind. Maybe we will see Incredibles 2 after or when he's ready and hopefully during a lull of superhero movies.

Same here MarkH, this is the one and only Pixar movie that should have an sequel. I was very unimpressed with cars and never knew why they would make a sequel for that. Right now is the perfect time for a second incedibles.

Give me superheroes or give me... no wait. I'd just rather see The Incredibles: Incredibler.
That was the best family movie almost ever. And stuff got blown up. Cars? Owen Wilson learning more life lessons? Not? Toy Story? Well, the one has a rocket pack. Does it actually work?
I mean hey The Incredibles ended with a new villain.

Exactly Christian. Its the only movie that perfectly set up a sequel. It was like the end of Batman Begins when they show you the joker card. You knew another one was coming. When they've got that mole guy drilling up through the ground and then the movie ends you just assumed that if it did well at the box office they would immediately begin working on another one. I'm glad they're not rushing it, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be working on one. I'd love to see another one with those characters.

Cool art, thanks for that!
The Incredibles is one of my favorite movies of all time. As long as it's done right, I want this more than any other sequel.

The Incredibles is Pixar's best movie after the first Toy Story, and while the prospect of a Toy Story 3 is great, and Cars 2 should be interesting (I think the original is vastly underrated, but I don't think there's enough there for a sequel), the only sequel I am dying for is The Incredibles 2.
I can wait, Mr. Bird, but please don't make me wait long. ;-)

I never understood why no one at Pixar has even mentioned the possibility of a sequel to this movie, yet Cars somehow gets a sequel. (Which in my opinion is the worst Pixar movie to date)
Toy Story makes some sense, it seems like a set of characters and a story style that could have many different segments, and I actually preferred #2 to #1. The only other movies that seem to have that kind of set up is The Incredibles and A Bugs Life, yet neither seem to ever be getting a sequel. Everything else, Cars, Ratatouille, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc., WALL-E, all feel like everything that has been told was told and there's no need to continue their stories anymore. I so don't understand Cars is getting a sequel, other than for the money/NASCAR support, sigh~

UNTIL IRON MAN & DARK KNIGHT ROLLED AROUND, I CONSIDERED THE INCREDIBLES THE BEST SUPERHERO MOVIE EVER MADE. IT WAS A DISAPPOINTMENT TO HEAR THAT CARS, WHILE A GOOD MOVIE TOO, JUST DOESN'T JUSTIFY A SEQUEL. I THINK THAT TIME & ENERGY WOULD BE BETTER SPENT ON CONTINUING THE INCREDIBLES STORY.
