Go Behind the Scenes on 'The Road'

Our friends over on Quiet Earth snagged a bunch of behind-the-scenes photos from The Road, the much- anticipated adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's Pulitzer-winning novel. They came courtesy of actor Jeremy Ambler, the nice looking fellow to Viggo Mortensen's left. Everyone in the photographs may be smiling (I've never seen cannibal victims look so cheerful!), but I'll be darned if the photo of the Fanker Mansion doesn't send a chill down my spine. We've attached it and a photo of the cannibals in the gallery below -- pretty freaky looks for a very scary scene.
I can't decide if I'm excited for this movie or just plain dreading it. Every glimpse of it makes me go find a puppy and hug it, then watch some YouTube videos of baby pandas for good measure. Get Cute Overload and your Disney DVD's prepped on November 26th -- you're really going to need them.

Sweet, some of this was filmed in my hometown so I'm really looking forward to seeing it. But I really want to read the book first.

I have a feeling that this movie is going to be great, absolutely terrifying, but great. The book was tough to read because some of the chapters were so intense. I can't even imagine what it is going to be like watching it. I think it's going to be an experience.

With cannibals and spooky houses in the mix the timing for the release at Halloween season seems very appropriate. This is going to be one intense film, but the more I see of it the more intrigued I am. Despite the fact that it will probably give me nightmares I've got to see it.

The Road was one of the best books I've ever read. And I've read a lot. It was only my second Cormac McCarthy novel, but I feel it was much better than No Country for Old Men. While I enjoyed the action and dialogue of No Country, I couldn't stand that &%$#@ ending.
But The Road was different. The end was adequate and left me satisfied. I was especially stricken by the author's portrayal of the post-apocalyptic future. It was very disturbing.
I plan to see this movie when it comes out, but I have to make sure I don't compare it to the book. I'll just come back sorely disappointed.
