Fan Made: Obama Supporters Look to Star Wars
.jpg)
It didn't take Obama supporters long to jump on the whole Star Wars-themed bandwagon, and so in the spirit of t-shirts like this Luke Skywalker one, comes a new t-shirt created by Barack Obama supporters. On the front of this one (see above), you get Obama and R2-D2 (shoulda been R2-Biden) in an X-wing being chased by a few tie fighters, and then on the back you have a drawing of the Death Star ... but if it was run by John McCain and Darth Vader. (Check out both images enlarged in the gallery below). They're telling us that all proceeds for this particular shirt -- which runs at $19.95 -- will go directly to the Obama campaign.
Who's behind it all? From the website (where you can purchase the shirt): We're a group of people based in Santa Cruz, CA and New York City who desperately want to see Obama prevail. We've created this t-shirt because we think it captures how so many of us feel about the upcoming election and the way the other side operates. Our goal is to unite people all across the country around this sentiment and to raise as much money as we can to defeat this Empire that's been running our country for the last 8 years."
Personally, I'm still waiting for someone to doctor-up an image of Obama as Lando ... (ahem, creative readers ...)

Thanks for posting political schlock to a movie website. Since its Star Wars inspired does not mean its related. Leave the political commentary to CNN and talk about movies and tv. Thanks.

I think I speak for lots of Cinematical readers when I say if you don't like the posting, don't read it! Yes, it's tied to politics, but it's also tied to film (Star Wars, hello???). Awesome site, awesome shirt!

Yeah, this is pretty stupid.
Do you know why these two candidates are neck and neck in the polls? Because they both suck equally.
Also, I've always been on the dark side.

It's funny, too, because in the three or so years that I've been here, we've only had to shut down comments on a handful of posts -- and that's because people get too angry and racist and hateful. It's not that we don't want you to be able to share your opinion, we just want you to respect others and speak like we're above the age of 7.

Then I encourage everyone to go over and read some of the hate filled racist rantings that got your other propaganda thread closed.

Seriously? To say this post is tied to a film is a real stretch. Satire and Parody are very funny - but to actually promote a website that solicits donation for the Obama campain.
Just insulting - more liberal crap from Erik Davis.
Where is the counter view? You've done plenty of pro-Obama posts and a few anti-McCain posts. Don't tell me there isn't an agenda here because the record proves otherwise.

Hey, I have no problem whatsoever posting some funny movie-related jabs at Obama. Find me some -- send me some -- all this stuff we post is sent in to us, and to this day we have not received anything pro-ish McCain.
Argh! Lets get angry some more! Agenda!

Uh, LiqwidZero, the two candidates aren't even CLOSE to being neck and neck in the polls. Obama is poised for a landslide. I do understand why the Republicans here would be frustrated, knowing there is absolutely nothing they can do to stop the upcoming Democratic domination of every branch of the government. :-)

I always find it funny when a community of people who share a love for film (the very reason we come to Cinematical) starts to eat one-another over politics.
Aren't we the ones who take a more imaginative approach to life and the world around us? The rhyme and reason for what makes us what we are and the crazy moving pictures we create? So then why is it we get riled up by these satirical slants on modern day issues?
On a side note: the very fact that there seems to be more 'catchy' Obama-supported works out there like this t-shirt only goes along with the petty arguments pro-republicans make when things like this are posted - the GOP needs to get a GSOH.
Oh, and yes I support Obama. But give me something funny that supports McCain and I'll enjoy it all the same. It's not meant to be an argument creator, it's simply a light-hearted commentary on politics. Chillax.

Bah. Both candidates are puppets of the Bilderberg Group, and neither one will actually bring any real "change" or "progress". If you want things to change in Washington, do what our Founding Fathers did: cast off the yoke of tyranny. Of course, now I'm sure *this* will be added to my file, and a bunch of the media industry's pawns (unwitting or otherwise) will immediately flame me -- if this post even survives. Look out -- the New World Order is working hard every day to eradicate Liberty. How do you know a traitor? They say that the Constitution is "just a piece of paper". Guess what? You can quote Obama saying that. And McCain, as much as I deeply respect his military service and commitment, was a party to the Savings & Loan scandal of the eighties. Damn, if only the media hadn't gagged Ron Paul, we'd actually be talking about real issues. WAKE UP AND SMASH THE MACHINE!
