First Clip(s) from 'Quantum of Solace'
Filed under: Action, New Releases, James Bond, Trailers and Clips
As of this writing, it's just under a month until Quantum of Solace's November 14th release date. The buzz on it has been oddly neutral; no one's seen it, people still mock the title from time to time, but everyone seems to be calmly assuming that the acknowledged awesomeness of Casino Royale will just sort of carry over. It's been nice to have a build-up to a blockbuster without too much undue hysteria. Apropos of the calm seas, MSN offers the fairly placid first clip from Quantum of Solace. In it, Craig's Bond has a heart-to-heart with Mathis (the great Giancarlo Giannini), whom he pegged as a double agent at the end of Casino Royale. ("Oddly, right now you're the only one I can trust," he says.) They mourn the death of Vesper Lynd, with Bond understandably conflicted seeing as she betrayed him before she died. Bond drops some pictures on the table and asks for information.
It's not much, but at least it's apparent that Quantum of Solace will embrace Casino Royale's earnestness rather than the Pierce Brosnan films' often annoying snark. And it's good to see that, while I'm sure Quantum will stand alone in most respects, plot threads from Casino Royale haven't just been forgotten, as has been the franchise's unfortunate practice.
UPDATE: Moviefone has just launched a clip from Quantum of Solace as well, and this time Bond and M chat about revenge and Vesper and all sorts of groovy things. Check it out.

LOVE IT! What a wonderful scene. I have no worries about this film. I've seen and read so much about it, all of which was fantastic. In the US the promotion is a little too low key for my taste. The UK has the best promotion, magazines, news articles. .
Cannot wait for QoS!!!!

I think on the one hand it seems like an odd clip to make the first one available, but on the other hand, as is noted in the post, it also shows us that this film has some ties to the film before it, unlike previous incarnations of the franchise. So the clip sets the film apart, and shows that Royale was not just an aberration, but that this new series of films is truly something a little different, a little new.

Yeah, I think that's like one of the only scenes where Bond is not fighting for his life. Seriously, this sucker is packed with action.

This bond flic is going to be amazing! I love D. Craig as bond and totally enthralled with the direction they are going with this bond! With the exception of Goldeneye, the P. Brosnon bonds were horrific. I like the more realistic, grown-up, less campy approach these new ones have. Not only does Q of S pick up like 10 minutes after the first one ended, but the whole plot is based around what ended up taking place in the first. We get to see bond become some what of a rogue agent going on a revenge spree because of what happened to vesper! let me just say Q of S will be simply amazing in every way..:" thats bond...JAMES F*CKIN BOND!!!"
