Must Watch: 'Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father' Trailer!
Filed under: Documentary, Trailers and Clips

There are few films that not only impress you, but rip you out of complacency and compel you to speak out and help -- whether it's for a cause, or merely to encourage more buzz. But even most of those films eventually fall into the dusty halls of the past, seemingly forgotten as new films and motivations arise. That's definitely not so with Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father. Erik and I have been talking about this film all year -- through our reviews, thoughts, continuing news, and the poster. And now you can view the trailer above.
Dear Zachary is a film that should be seen by everyone. The heart-wrenching story it relays is important, but also inspiring. Even in all of the devastation and tragedy there are beacons of positivity and strength that we can all learn from. But we've covered this before. Read up on the film through the links above and please -- go see it.
Update: Dear Zachary arrives in theaters on October 31st in New York and on November 7th in Los Angeles and Chicago, before expanding to other cities. Additionally, you'll be able to catch the entire doc when it airs on MSNBC this December 7th.

What kind of release is it getting? Wide? I assume very limited.
Fandango says it's being released Oct 31.
But, for fear of bumping into spoilers I don't want to do too much poking around the web.

Today was a lazy (and chilly) Sunday at my house. I settled in under my featherbed to watch an afternoon movie. As I surfed the channels, I happened upon the documentary film, Dear Zachary. I had never heard of the case or of Dr. Andrew Bagby. I was completely unaware of the magnitude of what would unfold in this powerful, true film. I road the emotional roller coaster with Andrew's parents as they went through unimaginable and unnecessary heart break. Even though the film is hard to watch in the end, I am glad it was made and that I saw it. It is a moving story of unprecedented loyalty on the part of so many beautiful people (Kurt, Andrew's parents, etc.).

After 30 years of being a school counselor, I thought I had seen and heard it all. Not! Last night's late nite presentation of Letter to Zazhary aired on CNBC very late here in Atlanta and I struggled to stay up til it finished at 2:00 AM. I went to bed a little teary eyed and had it on my mind all day. I am a stong 60 year old college professor whose heart strings are not easily pulled, but this story broke my heart. I kept thinking it was going to have a happy ending.....it didn't. Thank you for all the time, travels, and hard work put into this story. They will both live in our hearts ....for eternity.

I started to watch this documentry by accident sunday night and ended up recording it because it was gut wrenching.
I knew I wanted to see to the end but the anger that was welling inside at the Canadian judicial system, the DR's, the Judge's and the heart ache for Andrews parents was a bit much.
This is an amazing story and thank God you have told it . Kate and David are to be held in the highest standard having found the strength to deal with that sorry waste of flesh that the Lord wasted streching over those evil bones of that horrid evil woman.
There is a reason for people like you and everyone who has had the joy of knowning Andrew and his family.
Thank you for all that you and everyone has done to share this story and the changes that have been accomplished so far by sharing it.
This needs to be on DVD .
I will be buying David's book.

This amazing documentary has been on my mind since I watched it last night. I have never felt so many different emotions while watching one film. Although heartbroken and angry by the reasons this film was made, I feel privileged having been able to experience it.

My fiance and I watched this the other night. We just happened to stumble across this while flipping through the channels. What we did not know was that our lives were about to be deeply changed by this story. We have a little boy aswell, and watching this left us with unstoppable tears, anger, sadness, rage, and insperation. The Bagby's unspeakable experiance has touched so many people. This has inspired me to embrace every minute of everyday as if it were my last. You captured every emotion in this documentary so well that you feel you are going through it. Thank you.
