Trailers for 'Underworld 3' and 'Valentine 3D'

Naturally, today's release of Saw V (read our review) brings with it numerous trailers for early '09 horror offerings. Earlier this week, we received the first trailer for that Friday the 13th remake (which you can see here), and now we have two others.
First up is My Bloody Valentine 3D, the crotch-targeting poster for which Scott made mention of earlier today. Lionsgate is going to have trouble actually marketing this in 3-D, as family-friendly fare continues to dominate that format; thus, we have this somewhat hokey green-band number courtesy of IGN. (For what it's worth, several little birdies who had the good fortune to see some footage recently -- in all its R-rated, three-dimensional glory -- were seriously impressed. Nothing sells quite the same as airborne eyeballs...)
Finally, there's Underworld: Rise of the Lycans: third in the franchise to date, but first in our hearts terms of story continuity. Since Rhona Mitra came to so very much resemble Kate Beckinsale in last spring's Doomsday, it only makes sense that she formally take up the mantle in the war between werewolves and vampires. Be sure to check out this recently released trailer if you also want to see what it looks like when Michael Sheen isn't feuding with the werewolf-like Nixon.

I really do find these movies wonderfully crappy. The CG looks terrible and the story retarded, but every so often there's movies so bad that I really have fun seeing them (think Day After Tomorrow bad).. the Underworld movies are in this category.

So, let me get this straight. Rhona Mitra's character is supposed to be Bill Nighy's daughter, though they make her look exactly like Kate Beckinsale?
If they wanted to cast someone who looks a helluva lot like Beckinsale, why didn't they just cast her as the same character? We've seen Nighy's daughter in flashbacks and she looks nothing like Rhona Mitra.
And, for the record, I'm not a fan of the movies either. My girlfriend, unfortunately, is.

I wouldn't be surprised if Beckinsale had simply decided that dramas like Snow Angels and Nothing But The Truth were a bit more worth her while at this point in her career.
But that's just my guess. I don't doubt that they asked her first.

I'm sorry. I wasn't clear. I meant why didn't they just cast Mitra as Beckinsale's character? I wasn't asking why Beckinsale wouldn't want to do it.

Gotcha. (Sorry, but both of these films are just a big, blue and gray blur to me now.)

So if my memory serves me correctly. In the first Underworld. Didnt Bill Nighy say he killed his own daughter for falling in love with a a lycan(Lucian..*spelling*). So basically we know how this movie is already going to end. She dies, lycans go on the verge of extinction etc....disappointed but will see it anyway

I was not a fan of the first two Underworld films by any stretch of the imagination, so perhaps this isn't surprising:
I saw the Underworld 3 panel at Comic-Con, and the footage they showed was absolutely awful. Like, even worse than what we've seen from the first two. Sadly, the crowd totally ate it up. Ugh.
Vampires locked in an eternal war with werewolves...that should be awesome. Why isn't it?!
