Over on his Times Online pop culture blog, Michael Moran confronted what he considered to be the ten silliest sequel rumors at the moment. His list runs the gamut from projects we've been hearing about for ages -- The Goonies 2 and Ghostbusters 3 -- to ones that never crossed my radar in the slightest (dude, they should totally bring back Katherine Heigl if they go through with Under Siege 3).For that matter, what's The Wicker Man without a shouting Nic Cage? Or an I Am Legend prequel in which Will Smith finds himself confronted with hardship after hardship until we end up where the first one began? (In that case, simply remake The Pursuit of Happyness, but with a deadly virus replacing crippling poverty.) Speaking of post-apocalyptic pandemics, I do count myself among those pleasantly surprised by how much 28 Weeks Later worked, so I'm more reluctant than ever to write off a third one. (As a bigger fan of Cloverfield, though, I think that they're just pushing their luck with any sort of follow-up.)
Thusly, I ask which, if any, of these sequel/prequel prospects are you guys and gals excited for? And which ones seem downright ludicrous to consider *cough*Blade Runner*cough*Watchmen*cough*300*cough*? (And while I'm at it, anyone else ready to throw in the towel on Pirates of the Caribbean? Oh, wait, we've already had this talk...)

Was shocked at how much I loved 28 Weeks Later as well. Hate to say it, but probably even more than Days Later.
I do like the idea of a I Am Legend Prequel. Had they simply kept the other ending (which I like SO much better) they wouldn't have been stuck with doing a prequel.

Ok.. So I may be putting myself out there a bit and I am fully aware that it would never happen but I have, for years now, thought that a sequel to the Labyrinth could be pretty cool. As I see it, it would follow Toby, all grown into a teenager and having zero interest in Magic or anything like that. Just a normal kid. Anyhow, Jareth, now haggard and decrepit is vying to regain his throne but to do so, he needs Sarah. Enter rhe beautiful Jennifer Connelly. She is a grown woman, has gotten on with her life and Jareth, with the help of some goblins or even somethign nastier has kidnapped her in an attempt to regain the power he lost. Now of course this is where the ending comes in, she calls for help, she needs Hoggle and Ludo and the rest to save her and in turn, they need Toby. I see it as a darker film, with the Labyrinth itself overgrown and far more dangerous, more in line with Pan's you know what. I'd like to suggest Frank Oz for the director's chair, given his connection to the original and it's creators.
The title would be "The Once and Future Goblin King"
And yes... This suggestion is silly, I get that... But come on, who among you Labyrinth fans WOULDN'T want to see Bowie as an older, scarier, more desperate Jareth?

That's like saying a sequel to Princess Bride or Top Gun is a good idea. Leave well enough alone.
These fantasy sequels never work. Neverending Story 2 & Return to Oz anyone??

I'd watch that Labyrinth sequel.
Return to Oz is way better than the original. It scared the crap out of me as a kid. I rented it last year and it was still a freaky movie.

I love Labyrinth and David Bowie, and I actually rather like Return to Oz, but no, I really don't want to see a sequel to Labyrinth, especially not the one you've described. And I'm pretty sick of the darker=better mentality.

I really hope they don't make a sequel to Blade Runner...the first movie is perfect as it is. Let sleeping dogs lie man. I'm tired of stupid sequels to movies I loved as a kid that are not nearly as good as the original. With that said, I am curious with the Ghostbusters sequel now that its actually kinda pulling forward. And I honestly want to see a fifth Indiana Jones movie. I was entertained by the fourth, but thats not how I want the serious to end. I'd like full closure. And none of that Shia taking over bs. Harrison or bust.

i gotta say half of me wants a another 300 cuz it was such a fun and enjoyable movie. but then reality hits and theres nowhere for them to go. they could make the second battle with flashbacks to the first but it would be light on story (sicne they already told it) and heavy on action. this is what critics will pan and i dont want anything bad being associated with the original. they are better off making a big budget video game for us to enjoy
