Who's Replacing Bruce Campbell in 'Bubba Nosferatu'?!

If you haven't seen Bubba Ho-Tep, then stop reading this post immediately and go to your movie renting outlet of choice. If you have (and I imagine everyone on Cinematical has) then you may continue. There has been talk of a sequel to Bubba Ho-Tep for I don't know how long. I would venture to say that we were all pretty favorable to the idea, because more Bruce Campbell is always a good thing. But then came word that Campbell wouldn't be reprising his role as Elvis Presely in Bubba Nosferatu ... and well, who wants that?
Everyone associated with Bubba Nosferatu, apparently. Last year, director Don Coscarelli said he would replace Campbell with someone equally lovable. Word has it, according to an interview Ain't It Cool News held with Paul Giamatti, that the new Elvis is none other than Ron Perlman. Says Giamatti: "Our thinking was kind of like, "Well who the hell do we find who is a really good actor and a guy who is going to fit right?" You know what I mean? It was sort of like, for a while we let the thing sit and then all of a sudden we were like 'Well, maybe we should go to Ron Perlman,' which just seemed like a great idea and he was up for it." The plan is to start shooting Bubba Nosferatu in the spring, with Giamatti still attached as Col. Parker.
Call me a Debbie Downer, but my interest in Bubba Nosferatu died when Campbell dropped out. It kills me to say it, because the plot sounds terrific and I'd love to see Giamatti as Col. Parker. But I can't see Perlman, talented as he is, as this particular Elvis. It might just be me, though, and everyone else will be happy enough to see Elvis ride again.

Elisabeth is right again - great guy but wrong choice.
Now, if they said Kurt Russell - that would be an inspired replacement.

Sounds great!
With Ron Pearlman playing Elvis they should change the character name to Helvis.

No Bruce, no movie. How could they even consider such a thing?

i was so happy with Bruce Campbell as Elvis. but i trust Coscarelli enough to hope that a new movie with a new lead Elvis, might be just as ridiculous and funny as the first.

I couldn't imagine Bubba Ho-Tep without Ossie Davis. Without Bruce -- no way. Not even Perlman.

I'm with Monika. Even if Bruce was in, the lack of Ossie Davis would make me skeptical, and I think without Bruce they shouldn't even call it a sequel or prequel or however they market it... Maybe if it was marketed as something entirely separate... ehh i still dont know.

The only way I could see it being good is if you have Pearlman be a completely different person who thinks he is/could be Elvis.
I know having two different Elvis impersonators who think they are Elvis (or might be the real deal) come face to face with monsters is somewhat crazy, but hell Elvis already died in Ho-Tep, so why not make a series in which crazy Elvis wannabe's fight monsters, then you could switch the actor all you want.

To all the nay-sayers - a bunch of schmucks, you are!
This is a prequel {which already puts this in the uphill battle catagory}, and as such the creative license by the director & producer is focused to honour the Bruce Cambell film.
Making a feature length film through to completion takes nothing short of a miracle, if it's good; thats just icing on the cake.
This picture already has two spectacular talets involved, Ron Perlman & Paul Giamatti, and this should secure your positive input. Lets give them the benefit of the doubt until we've seen it.
And if you still feel the need to have a whine, how many feature films have you made? Let he who is without sin... etc.
