Stallone, Statham and Li are 'The Expendables'
There's little denying that Sylvester Stallone and Jet Li are two of the biggest action stars of all time ... but Jason Statham? Sure, why not? At this point the guy's done three Transporters, two Cranks, a War, a Bank Job, an Italian Job and a Death Race. Hell, he's even done his own Conan-style "swords & sandals" entry, so yeah: I'd call Jason Statham one of the biggest action stars in the world. And good for him.So where was I? Ah yes, looks like all three action stars (a hulking American, a slick Asian, and a badass Brit) are seat to team up for Millennium Film's The Expendables. If this kind of team-up sounds a little familiar, that's because Millennium pulled the same thing by getting Pacino and De Niro together (again) for Righteous Kill. Stallone will write and direct, and after that he's expected to do another Rambo sequel for the Millennium boys.
According to THR, the plot will go a little like this: "The main characters are sent to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator to liberate the population. Their team is "expendable," hired to do jobs that no one else can or will." So bascially it's Rambo teaming up with a slick Asian and a badass Brit. Sounds like fun to me, though. Nothing wrong with an ensemble action flick, and we don't see enough of those these days. Where's the Dirty Dozen and Kelly's Heroes remakes when I need them?

I won't hate. Anything is possible if written right and cast well. Cast well, meaning putting the appropriate actor noted above in the appropriate role. I'd appreciate Stallone in something like this if he was the aged, experienced one and not attempting to steal all the fight/action scenes.
Don't forget to note that although the previous films weren't spectacular, Statham and Li have history and it has "worked" so far.

Jesus...is this the crap that the once great Jet Li is subjecting himself to these days. This will be a pile of crap for sure. Stallone will always be Stallone, and thats the problem. Jet Li is one of the greatest action stars in Asia, of all time, but sold out to a dumb american audience who thinks he's "wicked", but isn't even familiar with any of his great work from Asia. Jason Statham is better in flics where he isn't trying to be your Cliche 80's action star (i.e Snatch and Lock stock). He has become so type cast, in a bad way, thats why i could careless about him anymore, another sell out. This will be a blockbuster for sure, and will have the 18-26 age group raving about how this is the best ensemble ever. This movie will have all the Cliches and stereotypes. Li will be the Asian that says little, takes a spiritual approach, and is marveled for his martial arts. Statham will be your smartass, beer drinkin, cigerette smoking britt. And Stallone will be the " Captain America" type, who bleeds red, white, and blue, and is the "hero with a past" . It will have over the top explosions and CGI, filling in for dialogue and acting. YUCK!!! Can it be, that at the same time, the thing i love the most, is also the thing i hate...that being film.

I'm all for such a teamup so long as it makes no attempt whatsoever to take itself seriously, guns, footwork and shirtless ass kicking (Stallone, Li and Statham) can be all kinds of fun, but only if it acknowledges how ridiculous it is. That being said, please don't mention a Dirty Dozen remake, the powers that be would take you up on it and I've had enough heresy in films lately. (Day the Earth Stood Still)

This is going to be amazing. Stallone and Statham are two of the most badass actors ever. I don't care much for Li, but this is going to be great.
I think people are forgetting that Stallone is actually a great writer and director. He wrote Rocky, First Blood, and directed Rambo. I guess Rambo is a more debatable choice, but Rocky and First Blood are both classics.

I don't know. I felt Statham and Li in "The One" but not so much in "War". And this sounds kinda meh to me. But I can't knock it for some reason..

The title seems about right. I could do without all these guys. Stallone needs to hang it up. His freakish appearance is just too distracting.

Statham is the better actor by far but he just keeps shoehorning himself into these absurdly ridiculous action movies. it's a shame.
this has straight-to-dvd disaster written all over it.

This movie is going to be amazing for what it is, a pure action movie. When people saw the new Rambo or Crank, did they expect a story line? No. I went to see it to see explosions, machine guns, and more explosions. That is what this movie is going to be. These are some top notch action movie stars and this movie will deliver. Also Dolph Lundgren is going to be in it too (the Russian from Rocky 4), who is also a great action movie star. I will deffinitely be in line opening night for this.

Stallone is the best action star world has ever seen. His movies are inspiration till date. There will never be a Stallone again. I hope todays actors draw some learning from his career. We need manly stars and not girlish. Stallone forever.

Stallone is an all out legend. Rambo - best all out action film ever - and I do mean the last Rambo. Everyone in cinema cheering, everyone who saw it on DVD said it was the business. People who didn't rate it simply up their own arses.
- Stratham - B grade legend - solid action hero - nice comic timing as well as good at kicking the shit out of people.
- Li - great in asian flicks like once upon a time series - great in unleashed - terrible in all the western popcorn kid flicks - waste of time out of his original genre.
- Van Damn - all out idiot for turning this down, but hey he's had a self sabotage program running since bloodsport - so what do you expect. Hands down the most wasted action hero talent in history.
- Dolph - pretty bad in every way really - should have put vin diesel instead - although he to is pretty bad at least he has screen presence and would work in ensemble.
- Micky Rourke, maybe - but I suppose his story would have to be that he had major plastic surgery after face being blown up with a grenade as a back story to make a soldier with that much plastic surgery make any sense.
you all know I'm right in every way ...
