This isn't the first official poster for Funny People, but it is our first official look at the marketing campaign for Judd Apatow's third directorial effort. Along with this image, Universal has announced a partnership with MySpace where you can win a walk-on role in the film. What you do is head on over to the flick's official MySpace page, become their friend, and then in 100 words or less leave a comment explaining why you should win the role (maybe you're, like, totally the biggest Apatow junkie on the planet!). Additionally, Judd prepared a special message on YouTube announcing the contest, which you can view after the jump.
Starring Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann, Eric Bana, Jonah Hill and Jason Schwartzman, Funny People focuses on the stand-up comedy circuit and one comedian's near-death experience. It arrives in theaters on July 31, 2009.

We might wanna start throwing Apatow's name in the movie posters?
"From the guy that brought you 40 Year old virgin and Knocked up" can only last so long.

Forget Jonah Hill, the more appropriate question is when the fuck will Adam Sandler go away??? Bearing in mind Sandler's impossibly low level of humour and piss poor comic deliver, it's an insult to all our intelligences that this guy even attempts to pass himself off as a "comedian."

Sandler's no genius, but he has his niche. And he has really shined under the right direction in the right vehicle for his talent. If Apatow is using him, I suspect it's for a good reason. If you hate watching Sandler that much, just don't watch him.

I stopped watching Sandler a very, very long time ago. I don't know what kind of beer goggles you've been wearing, but that fucktard has never shined under anyone's direction. You are right on one point though, he does have his niche – namely an audience of dimwitted numskulls whose purile intellects can only comprehend the lowest common denominator humour that Sandler is overly capable of delivering.
In future, please refrain from baselessly defending a talentless hack like Sandler and just go back to watching Family Guy.

Well Harmacy you are right, I didn't give any examples so I guess I was "baselessly defending" him. In regard to where I feel he has "shined" you should check out Punch-Drunk Love or Reign Over Me. While these films are not comedies, his roles are both heartfelt and extremely odd and I personally couldn't help from laughing and feeling for the characters. Even Spanglish, while poorly shot, lit, and edited, was otherwise a great opportunity for him to show his talent. Now the majority of his stuff, like I said, is far from genius, but he continues to entertain people, so just get over it. You are entitled to your opinion, but slamming him or me does you no good. I reiterate, if you hate watching Sandler, don't watch him.

I reiterate – I don't watch the fool. In fact, I pity the fool who pays money to watch that fool. I refuse to get over it because the imbecility of people never ceases to amaze me. It boggles the mind, it truly does boggle the mind... And I will continue to slam him because he is the most slamworthy douche to disgrace Hollywood in recent times. I spread the truth – anyone reading this knows that – and obviously your truth-handling abilities simply can't cope with the level of truthfulness I'm imparting.
In all honesty I haven't dared watch any of the Sandler vehicles you name checked for fear that my IQ may drop a point or three merely from baring witness to them. But I have seen enough Sandler movies (that is two, possible three), and I regret every excruciating moment of it (the things we will do for others...).
A "heartfelt" performance from Sandler??? Surely you jest!!! The hack's beady eyes are totally incapable of conveying any type of expression or emotion, very much akin to the unchanging gormless expression he insists on wearing (or, more aptly, is incapable of altering). You cannot in all seriousness attempt to argue that the tard has any acting ability whatsoever, because that claim is 100% unjustifiable. No evidence exists to support your untenable claims. Your unfounded and indefensible allegations would fall flat in a court of law, dismissed as fallacy and delusional beyond all reasonable doubt.
How Sandler has managed to amass any type of fan base whatsoever is one of those inexplicable mysteries, not unlike how the Spice Girls managed to sell a gazillion albums, how Everybody Loves Raymond managed to draw a sizeable audience, and how George W. managed to make it into office time and again. Oh wait, hold the phone, it's no mystery at all – it's simply proof positive of how painfully retarded the populace at large is...

Ok I have to give you credit for the use of "I pity the fool," you actually made me laugh.
As to the rest of your argument... I find it depressing and ungrounded. The fact that you think Adam Sandler is the worst talent in Hollywood is incredibly ignorant. You prove this ignorance by failing to back up your argument with any real facts. I'm not trying to piss you off, but honestly, how am I supposed to take you seriously when you haven't listed a single character he's played or a single movie he's been in. I can get on board with you if you want to trash Bulletproof or Little Nicky, but to criticize an actor's entire career without even seeing his best work is plain irresponsible.
I'm not going to accuse you of being stupid because you don't agree with me, that would also be ignorant. I am however, going to refrain wasting any more time on your replies until you have something of substance to talk about.
If you can bring yourself to give Sandler one more chance, go out and rent Reign Over Me or Punch-Drunk Love. Get someone else to do it if you can't bare spending the money yourself. Then we'll talk.
