...and yet still managed to be a damn good movie? Well I sure thought it was, anyway, even if the Tomato-meter doesn't seem to agree with me. I said lots of nice things about the flick back in my original review, but I also longed to see Peter Berg's original cut. The one that wasn't sacrificed at the altar of the demigod known as PeeGee-Thirteen.So hey! Hancock comes out on DVD next week, and guess what? Two different versions! (Three if you count the Blu-Ray, which offers both versions in the same package.) OK, so according to this DVD cover, the theatrical cut runs 92 minutes, while this DVD cover

No offense Scott, but I am one of the many who thought this movie was pretty crappy. The review of the unrated cut doesn't sound any more promising. Nevertheless, I would be interested in a director's cut, so keep us updated.

I mean, c`mon, plotholes like everymovie, regular effects, but i think that the ORIGINALITY factor plays a lot here. The comic to drama switch was unexpected, but then again, that's what makes it ORIGINAL.
And you know, ORIGINAL it's a word hard to find these days in Hollywood cinema.
I'll be waiting for that DVD, indeeeeeed.

This movie was hardly original. The few concepts that might be considered original were poorly thought out and just felt like they were added in the last second to make the plot work. Believe me I wanted to like this movie. It had some of my favorite actors and it was a super hero movie. But the reality is the damn thing couldn't decide what it was. We had comedy mixed with action mixed with romance, but since it never really committed to being anything it just ended being weak in all categories. I found myself either wincing or snoring through the whole movie. I'm going to stop myself now, because I really have no interest in tearing this movie apart. If you liked it great, I have plenty of my own movies I love that most people say are crap.
Like I said, maybe if they come out with a director's cut I'll give it another shot. Maybe there is a better movie that got left behind by the studios.

I really enjoyed the first 2/3rd's of the film, but that plot twist at the 3/4 mark was flat out awful and really ruined the movie for me!

Fun, smart flick. Poorly marketed but still very Peter Berg. I'm so gay for that guy's movies and TV shows. I could watch The Kingdom, Hancock, The Rundown and Friday Light Lights (all 3 seasons) in one day and die a happy man.

What was the twist people are talking about? Really where was it? If you mean the build-up to the reveal about another character...you weren't paying any attention as that was OBVIOUS from the moment that character came into the film. Seriously, if Berg had done anymore foreshadowing he would would have had a text crawl telling people where the story was going.

The unrated version just made this movie better in my opinion, i liked the original, it was a fun goofy movie and now the added swearing along with a few more adultish scenes makes it more complete, espicially when he has sex.. lol
