Trailer Park: Things Get Ugly
Filed under: Action, Comedy, Drama, Romance, Trailer Trash

Time to kick back, have a turkey sandwich and dig into some post-Thanksgiving movie trailer goodness.
The Ugly Truth
Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler star in this romantic comedy. Butler is an abrasive, chauvinistic TV personality and Heigl is his romantically challenged producer. The story looks fairly predictable and this one is going to have to rely heavily on the charisma of the cast. The release date is April 3.
What Doesn't Kill You
Crime drama starring Mark Ruffalo and Ethan Hawke as childhood friends from Boston whose life of crime puts a strain on their personal lives. This looks reminiscent of other Boston-based crime flicks like The Departed and Gone Baby Gone, but looks like it has a passion all its own. This will be one to watch for and it goes into limited release on December 12.
New in Town
A fish-out-of-water comedy starring Renee Zellweger as a Miami businesswoman who relocates to Minnesota in the middle of the Winter. Having witnessed a Minnesota Winter firsthand, I can sympathize. Harry Connick Jr. plays the flannel-garbed, rough-around-the-edges hunk she falls for. This could be fun, and it comes out sometime in 2009.
Duplicity
Clive Owen and Julia Roberts play former espionage professionals now working in the private sector who join forces to con their respective employers out of access to a new product that will make them rich. This one opens March 20.
He's Just Not That Into You
I found myself liking this just on the strength of the phrase "Myspace is the new booty call," especially since the trailer is posted on Myspace. Several stories of romantic exploration and discovery intersect, with a cast including Justin Long, Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck, and more big names than you can shake a stick at. This one hits theaters on February 6.
Adventureland
A recent college graduate finds himself forced to take a menial job at an amusement park. This is from Greg Mottola, the director of Superbad, and looks like more of the same, which in my humble opinion is probably a good thing. Look for this in theaters on March 27.

I give Boston some breathing room in the crime genre for two reasons: one, being that (crime) every movie I can think of off the top set in Boston has been fantastic, and GBG + Mystic River were both written by Dennis Lehane, so I think we can call that the same voice, to keep things simple. In any case, I wanna know why I haven't heard of What Doesn't Kill you sooner...it looks fucking amazing! Ruffalo and Hawke, and even Amanda Peet look like they're in top-form...that will be a great film.
And wasn't I surprised when Witch Mountain actually looks really good? The Rock is the man, though.
