ComicCon 'Watchmen' Footage Available On iTunes!

Here's your Christmas present from Warner Bros -- the Watchmen footage from ComicCon that we raved about for so long. Since then, much of it was incorporated into the second trailer, but not as stylishly as it was presented here. (Everything is stylish when accompanied by Philip Glass' Koyaanisquatsi score, though.) But now you can finally see the Dan Dreiberg footage I raved about -- I love, love, love the shot of him pictured above ... almost as much as I love the sadistic gleam in the eye of the Comedian as he looks at Sally Jupiter. This footage is full of those little moments, and it's really a bit eerie to see every panel recreated so well. Only three and a half more months, people. Three and a half more months!
The footage is available as a free download on iTunes -- but Cinematical readers won't have to go through that much trouble, as I've embedded it below. Now our international readers won't be left out in the cold. Watch, geek out, and go buy a copy of the graphic novel for everyone on your Christmas list.

That is staggering. I've never been so impressed with the handling of an adaptation.
I'm glad that you and everyone else is cool and confident that the film will make it's March 6th release date but I'm still feeling pretty nervous about next month's trial.
I hope Fox either fails miserably in this underhanded tactic of theirs... Or at the very least I hope they only want a cut of the profits and don't intend to block it's release.

Elisabeth You Rock!
Oh and what is the name of the dive you always rave about in Denver?
Live here but never been able to find it since I never remember the name of the place. Have probably passed it by more than once.....
Thanks

LOL, have I raved about a dive? I don't remember! I tend to only drink when I go out of town, oddly enough, so I have no idea where one goes in Denver if they're over 21 and cool. :P

Oh yes! Enchanted Grounds is the place. :) www.enchantedgrounds.com
It's actually out in Highlands Ranch -- an oasis of geekery in an otherwise grim area. :D

Holy lord, that is good.
Who needs dialogue? I could watch that for two hours, easily, and it'd be a bloody masterpiece.

I thought the same thing -- no dialogue, atmospheric music, 3 hour running time ... I'd be a happy camper!

(No spoiler here) There's still that little detail going around about a change in the ending or at least a detail of it. I am not a purist so I really don't care, on the contrary, it gives me a little expectation to look forward to, considering I have read the book. Everything else is just so beautiful and that word is so easy to go cheezy on, it's a beautiful adaptation from the looks of it. People that haven't read the novel have no idea how great this story is. I keep telling everyone no to miss it.

Looks REALLY good. I agree - the Dan Dreiberg stuff looks very cool. My brother-in-law is getting a copy of Watchmen for Xmas whether he likes it or not.
Check out the Watchmen video journals podcast on iTunes, as well. The new episode is called "Girls Kick Ass", and it's chock full o' Malin Ackerman doing just that. Good stuff.

I'd all but guarantee that a cut or, at the very least, a long chunk of Watchmen will be at BNAT this year. Boy, it sure would be convenient if a Cinematical writer were going to be there. [Manhattan sized wink]

I now know why the Watchmen movie is going to be three hours long---Snyder is going to slow everything down every five seconds. I'm just worried that the script won't be there.

I am utterly amazed! their are other words that i wish i could say, but i can't think of any. This looks to be the most complete and well done adaptation of a anything i have ever seen. I mean all the scenes are jaw droppingly perfect. For those who haven't read the graphic novel, you will never know how amazing this looks. I agree with MARTIN, i could watch hours upon hours of just footage with a score and no dialogue, its that perfect. I have no doubt in my mind that this will be my greatest movie experiance ever. I have never anticipated a release of a movie, or have gone to such lenghts to find out any and everything i could about a movie, as i have for "WATCHMEN". Get ready to be blown away!

Anybody psyched about this movie who HASN'T read the graphic novel? I'm not saying that the movie isn't going to be good, and I'm 100% sure that the graphic novel lives up to all the accolades its received, but I haven't read it, and consequently am not excited about this movie in the slightest. It looks like typical Snyder stuff; lots of pretty scenes all done in super slow-mo. That will make it very pleasing to view, but without any hint of the quality of the dialogue or the story itself I find very little in the clips and trailers to get pumped about. Before I get bashed here, I want to clarify that due to everyones excitement for the movie I will definitely check it out and think that it will be good. I'm just pointing out that it seems like the only people who are going crazy over the trailers and clips are people who already know the story and were going to love every leaked scene before the had watched it. So to me, all this clips do absolutely nothing, and actually seem pretty lame and boring.

Translating any written medium into film is a difficult undertaking (even a screenplay, sometimes), and we've seen enough mis-fires to be wary of putting up our money to see the outcome.
But I bought Watchmen as a result of seeing the first trailer, even though I remembered: the first trailer for The Fantastic Four was good, too.
Without spoiling anything, I think this film needed to wait until now to be made. It needed to wait until we'd translated the "superhero mythology" from comics to film, now that huge numbers of people have had their superhero expectations set by Batman, Superman, Spider Man, the X-Men, Hulk, Iron Man and the Fantastic Four. Those all needed to come first, so Watchmen could come after and say,
"No, that's not how it is, at all."
Watchmen can have the same impact on the film world that it had on the comic world when it was first published. From everything I've seen so far, it appears everyone's hopes to see what happens when you put masks on real people is being faithfully adapted and will be masterfully executed.
The Dark Knight took a small step in this direction and was an amazing film as a result. Just from what I've seen so far, I think people will walk out of this film...
changed.
