'Batman 3' Update: Rachel Weisz as Catwoman!?

While folks at Warner Brothers and Christopher Nolan are remaining tight-lipped with regards to a third Batman film, rumor has it that a production office for the threequel could open in Chicago as early as this spring (via BoF) -- and now E! is reporting (through one of their sources inside the studio) that Rachel Weisz could be up for the role of Catwoman in the flick. They say, "The next Batman installment is alive and kicking-definitely. We already mentioned today certain Warners sources are leaking to us that Rachel Weisz is being considered for the Catwoman role, too fab. But Warners officially isn't saying bubkes. But other insiders working on the next installment, to follow up where The Dark Knight left off, say it's all so a go."
Now, I don't trust anyone who uses the words "too fab" in relation to a story about Batman, but we take what we can get, right? What this does tell us is that, from the looks of it -- and even though there's probably not a script written yet (E! says it's being written now) -- Catwoman will play a major role in the third film. And, personally, I'm glad Angelina Jolie's name is slipping out, because she'd just add too much "glam" to this role. Weisz would do a fantastic job in my opinion, and if you'd like to see her go a little nutty and eccentric, check her out in The Brothers Bloom.
So whaddya think? Catwoman? Rachel Weisz? Ya dig?

when all the talk for Catwomen started, first with Jolie, I remember telling my friends my choice would be Rachel Weisz, she has been my choice the entire time, I think she would be a great choice as Catwomen.

first of all, she really seems like someone Chris Nolan would choose: beautiful but classy and good actress and, most importantly, english
but I don't much agression coming from her, of course I didn't see much coming from ledger either before seeing the movie
she's a fine choice indeed

I think Courteney Cox would be an excellent addition to the Batman films as Catwoman. Why is nobody talking about her?

As lovely and talented as Weisz is, I think even she is too mainstream and too EXPECTED to play the role. With Aaron Eckheart, Eric Roberts, Gary Oldman, even Maggie Gyllanhall, these were all actors that weren't ever at the top of "fanlists" for the casting, and that's how I like it! I shuddered at the thought of Jolie being anyone in these movies, so Weisz is an obvious upgrade, but even then...I'm not sold.
Of course, I said the same thing about Heath Ledger, so I am quite willing to be proven wrong.

I like the idea of a woman playing the Riddler, especially with everyone throwing out Angelina Jolie on every poll as Catwoman. Why can't women be more than Catwoman or Poison Ivy? I like Tilda or Angelina as the Riddler. Maybe even Queen Latifah.

I would love Rachel Weitz as Catwoman. I also think she plays convincingly in action sequences and would be a fun addition, subtle, yet deadly.

I think Weisz is a great actress to play Catwoman but I'm not excited about Selina Kyle appearing in the Nolan Batman series. I'd much prefer Talia al'Ghoul if we are to get a character like this appearing in the film. First, there would be a sense of cyclical closure... starting with Raz and then ending with his daughter. Also, I think a league of shadows return with a massive full scale city destroying plan would be awesome coupled with the internal struggles Talia can place on Bruce emotionally.
The other character Weisz could play that I'd like to see is Andrea Beaumont. She would also make for a complete storyline because she would be a version of Bruce gone over the edge and her story could even include a brief Joker encounter which is all that I believe audiences would be alright with at the current time. (I'd still like to see Paul Bettany take that job myself.)
Other villains I'd like to see are Hush or the Black Mask but unless we had some serious gender swaps Weisz wouldn't be playing either of them. The only other female character I'd like to see is Harley Quinn but Weisz wouldn't be good with that role.

Speaking of massive city destroying plans, I thought it made no sense for a crime fighting vigilante group to destroy an entire city full of innocent civilians. Bringing that silliness back would do more harm than good.
Comic book movies, with their impractical costumes and improbable powers and origin stories, require so much suspension of disbelief that all other elements, including plot developments and character interaction, must be played very straight and made very tight, realistic, and plausible.
Few movies even attempt this, sadly.

She does seem like someone Nolan would choose ... but then again Nolan has a crap eye for actresses. I mean, despite his considerable talent, he just doesn't seem to know how to pick photograph and or feature them. With the possible exception of Carrie Ann Moss and Hillary Swank the women in his films have seemed almost arbitrary cast.
Weisz is great, she would have made a great Rachel Dawes, but she is just wrong for Catwoman.
So Chris, here's an unsolicited piece of advice from a fan, ignore both your unreliable instincts in this area and the studio hacks pushing you to cast either a Megan Fox or a Kate Beckinsale and hire Eva Green. If not a post Boarding Gate, Asia Argento could make for a darm interesting choice.

Either the Rumor Mill surrounding this franchise is getting stale or they have been circling Weisz for ages, trying to find a part for her.
I remember hearing that she might be cast at "Batman's love interest" in Begins (I assume that meant Dawes), I remember hearing she would REPLACE Homes as Dawes in TDK and I remember hearing she was approached to play Talia Al-ghul in TDK... So what gives? Why does this woman's name keep coming up? If it's that they have not found a part but want to work with her, cool, I can dig it... But after this many mentions, I get the impression that Jett or someone like him just WANTS her in the movie and is fueling this rumor.
Then again, until Nolan says something, I don't buy any of these Hofman, Depp, Jolie, Cher rumors...
That said, I love the idea of a Nolanized Catwoman and his choices in leading ladies are always unique, so I suspect that if the character is involved, he will come up with a far left field and ultimetly perfect choice. I just hope her suit is reminicent of the one with the goggles. I really dig that version above the others.

catwoman figures prominently in some of the source material that nolan appears to draw on (see: year one, long halloween, dark victory), so it would not be a surprise to see her appear in the nolanverse. the character is more of a realistic cat burglar (less of the supernatural aspects that appeared in batman returns).

catwoman: no
Rachael Weisz: no
Catwoman is an exceptionally stupid character. Rachael Weisz is as sexy and menacing as a soggy hotdog wrapped in a moist towel. I don't know why I chose that particular imagery, but I'm goin with it. How about the riddler? Or maybe a new villain?
