Discuss: Most Offensive Movie Characters of 2008?

The Women Film Critics Circle have handed out their 2008 awards (with top honors -- Best Movie About Women -- going to Clint Eastwood's Changeling), and one of the more fascinating categories on their list is Most Offensive Male Characters. And ... who do the women film critics of 2008 find to be the most offensive male characters of the year? Aaron Eckhart (Towelhead), Sam Rockwell (Choke), Larry Bishop (Hell Ride), Paul Rudd, Seann William Scott (Role Models) and Jason Mewes (Zack and Miri Make a Porno). I'm actually surprised that Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark (aka Iron Man) didn't make this list, what with his fairly obnoxious (but comedic) womanizing ways, and I'm sure there are several other offensive male characters spread across the films of 2008 that coulda shoulda been mentioned, but weren't.
This, however, brings up an interesting topic: Who were the most offensive movie characters of 2008? Could be male, female, talking animal (or robot) -- were there any characters that just rubbed you the wrong way? Any characters who deserved to be sent straight to human resources? Furthermore, were there any films in general that were so offensive, you either considered leaving halfway through or did, in fact, bolt out the door before the end credits rolled? Sound off below ...

Bleh. Couldn't they have chosen Happy-Go-Lucky instead of Changeling? Did it have to be a film about a woman put through the wringer?

I love how they say "Most Offensive CHARACTERS" and then just name the actors who played the role.

These are women voting remember!
It is a fact that most women are incapable of separating an actor and the character they play onscreen. It is something that the female brain just always seems to have trouble with.

It is a fact that Gary can't help but make grossly general, condescending and sexist statements about 1/2 the human race. It is something that his brain just always seems to have trouble with.

Plan9, Chill your boots and learn to recognize a little humour.
Anyway, that whole list was sexist and offensive to the other 50% of the population.

Frost 75% of the time in Frost/Nixon. I honestly wanted to strangle him for being so scared of Nixon in the movie.

I can't think of any particularly bothersome characters--but maybe because that's I religiously consult Rotten Tomatoes before I see a film.
But here's a thought. Can we call the award for "most offensive character of the year" the Annual Chris-Tucker/Fifth-Element Prize?

Is there a "Most Offensive Women" list written by men, or is that sexist, evil, and blatant male chauvinist-pig propaganda?

Excellent point Randy. That character was offensive to existence itself. What a waste. As for a movie I found horribly offensive, I'll list one that I saw this weekend with my brother and his wife...Four Christmases. Man, that movie was horrible! I wanted to walk out half way into it. I felt disrespected by the very fact that someone had seen it at some point after it was completed and said to themselves "Yeah, we can still charge people for this". Man, I freaking hate it when my brothers wife picks the movies (before I get bashed by anyone for being "sexist" I'm not saying she can't pick movies because she's a woman...she just has AWFUL taste in film. She actually loved this movie.)

Jason Mewes or "Lester the Molester Cockenstuff" from Zack and Miri Make a Porno is definitely offensive, but I don't see him as overly offensive to women, he was just general offensive. Not to mention awesome. Dutch Rudder FTW!

I know this will sound like baiting, but I found all four female characters in the "Sex in the City" movie extremely offensive, and the movie as a whole insulting and derogatory towards women. Their whole lives revolve around being so insanely rich and materialistic that Donald Trump looks like a guy living in slums who only cares about his family. The movie was basically a 2 1/2 hour product placement and the message this movie sends to women is disgusting.
