Discuss: Favorite Movie Songs from 2008?
Like every red-blooded American, I dread the interminable Best Original Song presentations during the Oscars. More often than not, the songs suck, the presentation is elaborate and boring, and the insistence on playing the songs in full drags out an already too-long evening. But this year there's one song I'll actually be excited to see -- assuming it actually gets nominated. Thankfully, none of the Academy's arcane rules disqualified it.Variety has the just-announced list of 49 eligible Original Songs from 2008. It features the entire soundtrack to High School Musical 3, the memorable "Jai Ho" from Slumdog Millionaire, the worst Bond song of all time, and -- the one I'm rooting for -- Bruce Springsteen's "The Wrestler" from, uh, The Wrestler. If you haven't heard it yet, you can do so here. You'll probably want to bookmark that until the official soundtrack is released on a date to be determined.
Needless to say, a Dark Knight snub's got nothing on the possibility of the Boss not getting to perform this amazing song at this year's ceremony. I might boycott the damn thing. Though, if Steve Coogan gets to perform "Rock Me, Sexy Jesus" instead, I could be persuaded to reconsider.
What are your favorites from 2008? Any of them not on this list? (Ahem, Pineapple Express, anyone?)

Dracula's Lament?
What song are you talking about from Pineapple Express? The song most associated with it is Paper Planes by M.I.A. but that was released long before the movie.

LOL...Dracula's Lament was HILARIOUS, as was Inside of You, and We've Got To Do Something. I've got all them on my Ipod, but I'm with you Eugene, I'm rooting for Springsteen-one of my all time favorites, and The Wrestler song is AWESOME.

Incidentally, if there ISN'T a "Wrestler" soundtrack, Springsteen has a new album coming out at the end of January, and the song will be featured on it.

i have to go with paper planes myself because when i first saw the trailer, i had never heard the song, it made me want to watch that trailer 10x in a row because it fit the movie just right, and plus it may had been out but thanks to that trailer alone it propelled m.i.a. to new heights....matter of fact if it wasnt for the movie she wouldnt had came out with the video........that wrestler song is dope too! cant lie, and dracula's lament off of forgetting sarah marshall is that shit.

Worst Bond song of all time? Hardly.
I'd love to see more songs that actually play a part of the movie, such as "Rock Me Sexy Jesus" and "Dracula's Lament." But I doubt that will happen.
But if "The Wrestler" wins, I'll be happy.

"Jai Ho" from Slumdog, "The Wrestler" from "The Wrestler" and "Down To Earth" from Wall-E are 3 certainties. The Pineapple Express song is ridiculously catchy too (wasn't it in Slumdog too, when they were working on the trains?)... but seriously, out of all possible nominees, I want "Rock Me Sexy Jesus" from Hamlet 2 up there!!!

Damn it, when we talk "Pineapple Express", we are not talking about MIA! We are talking Huey Lewis and the MFing News, you ignorant sluts! This being said, the Boss should take it. But to see Huey and the boys rock the Oscars, maybe get Hugh Jackman to join in for "The Power of Love" with Michael J. Fox on guitar(as he played recently at a benefit), we would have the single greatest telecast in recent memory. Especially, if "In Bruges" won Best Picture, A man can dream.
