Will Tim Robbins Play Papa Stark in 'Iron Man 2'?

Who could breed such a perfect specimen of man like Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark? He has to be a bit dashing, and just a smidge brilliant. He must be a good businessman, and a bit of an alcoholic. Plus, it would probably help to have some similar features to Downey Jr. No one would believe that Iron Man came from some nobody. So, who would you pick?According to Latino Review, Howard Stark will be played by Tim Robbins in the sequel, because "Jon [Favreau] wanted to get a good actor because he didn't think the guy who played Howard in the last film could carry such an important scene." Heck, if Terrence Howard wasn't good enough to stay on, it's no surprise that Favs would look for a bigger player to pull off important Stark family scenes. I'm not drooling over the decision, but it definitely sounds like a solid choice.
And, just to sweeten the deal even more: Rumor has it that Hawkeye and Black Widow are definitely in Iron Man 2, and not just little cameos. A tough Russian woman with flowing red hair, clad in head-to-toe black leather? That sounds like a good idea to me. Any thoughts on who should play her, and Hawkeye for that matter?

I think Robert Forester did a great job in Heroe's and could easily pull off a Howard Stark. Depends on how old they mean to depict him.

Did we really even see him in the first flick, maybe a photo or two in the beginning, right? I don't recall getting a good look at him but either way, as a flashback, Tim Robbins works just fine. I doubt it would work if there is some cliché plot twist where he isn't really dead but as a memory, it's a great idea.
As for Hawkeye and Black Widow, this is great news. They had a fantastic arc together that revolved around Tony Stark, so this is a very good place to bring them in, before Avengers gears up... It sounds to me like we are getting a very comic accurate story here, where Clint Barton is going to be inspired by Iron Man to take up crimefighting but ends up being accused of being a criminal, he then falls for Black Widow and gets manipulated into stealing from Stark. It all ends with him trying to join the Avengers so as far as I am concerned, this is a perfect little subplot. I'm very happy to hear this.
As for casting, I just don't know. Black Widow just needs to be fiery red head with a decent accent so without seeing any number of Starlets dye their hair and speak in their best Russian, I can't really say. What I will say is that I hope it's a woman, a strong independent woman who is in her thirties at least. I think that would play better against Downey then some pretty young thing.
And Hawkeye should be an eager, slightly younger guy who is not a huge star yet but has the potential. It'd like to see this obvious direction they are going in carried through into the Avengers films so it would be best to get a lower key name, just to keep the cost down, given the number of huge names that are already filling up the roster. All I ask is whoever it is gets himself into good shape and practices like hell to make himself a decent archer.
I don't why, but Bradley Cooper comes to mind. He has the square Jawed good looks but it's offset by a kind of insecurity that I think would serve the "In over his head" plotline that saw Hawkeye coming into his own... That and he kind of has... Well... Hawk Eyes.

I would not mind seeing Olga Kurlyenko as the Black Widow, myself.

Sure, and she is certainly popular at the moment. I could see that working.
I think it would be pretty groovy if Favreau went and found a real Russian actress, someone gorgeous and talented and tough but only really known within Russia... I don't know, Zhanna Friske, maybe.

I always thought Famke Janssen looked more like Black Widow than Jean Grey. I suppose that ship has sailed though. I still would cast my vote for her though.

What would be wrong with Famke Janssen as Black Widow? Or does that conjure up a cheesy Bond image?

They said in the beginning of Iron Man that Tony Stark's father died.

I'd cast my vote for Janssen, too, not just because she would probably be able to pull it off, but because she comes with a fitting look, too.
A wannabe-accent can ruin quite a lot. Cate Blanchett wasn't all authentic in Indy 4, probably due to the accent thing. I don't know. Just didn't feel right.
I'd avoid Olga Kurylenko because I feel she comes with a softish image and aura. Go see Max Payne and you'll be healed.
