Discuss: O Movie, Where Art Thou?

Coming up on the new year, it's interesting to see which films we had thought would've been released by this point. In the summer of 2007, I recall myself and several colleagues showing up for a press screening of Jonathan Levine's lauded slasher, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, only to discover it was canceled just that morning and the film had been sold from the Weinstein Company to Senator that afternoon. (The film has since landed at Sony, whose indie arm, Sony Classics, already saw Levine's follow-up, The Wackness, to a proper theatrical reception.)
At least the Weinsteins gave something up for a change. The oft-shuffled Killshot and Fanboys are tentative January and February releases at the moment, respectively, and I just want to see for myself if The Poughkeepsie Tapes has been worthy of its modest reputation following a BNAT '07 screening -- the same BNAT that featured the reportedly sweet Trick 'r Treat that WB continues to hoard.
A perhaps more morbid curiosity has me keeping an eye on Paramount's Case 39, just to see if it's really that bad, and who knows what similar straits Assassination of a High School President, The Accidental Husband (originally last March), and Possession (originally last February) are in following Yari Film Group's bankruptcy -- not that I have much invested in the last two, but Assassination is a perfectly release-worthy noir take-off that deserves a home.
So what do you guys and girls think? Which of these are you most dying to see? What was the longest you ever waited to catch something, and were you ultimately disappointed or satisfied by the time it came your way?

Trick 'R Treat, no hesitation. Buddy has seen it and went positively apeshit for it. The trailer is like catnip for me. With a steady, properly controlled theatrical roll out I have no doubt that it would more than pay for itself. Warner Brothers needs to stop hording.

The fact that we are still without The Poughkeepsie Tapes blows my mind. If I recall correctly, didn't a trailer for it premiere with Cloverfield in theaters? Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's when the original trailer came out... so I assumed I'd get to see the actual movie in 2008.
It still doesn't have a permanent release date. I'm getting as sick of it as you guys. I didn't know that anyone had ever actually seen Trick 'R Treat, Peter. A lot of people can claim to have, but so many critics haven't, that you don't know whose reviews to believe. For me personally, I don't think it could ever live up to it's hype level.
I think it's a joke what Lionsgate did to Midnight Meat Train... I know it is supposedly coming out next year, but that doesn't make things right for how crappily they handled the situation. I did get to see it for free, thankfully, and loved it.
I definitely had never heard of Yari Film Group, but Assassination has been saved in my various "Watch in 20 years" lists (Where I stash movies that will probably never be released, but seem good from the outside looking in). Now it's in limbo again?
This is the main thing that sucks about being an independent film fan of any kind. Studios don't know how to handle lower budget films.

Trick 'R Treat has actually played publicly a few times. If I remember correctly it was the final film at last year's BNAT. My friend caught it in LA at, i think, Screamfest a few months back. I had him write a review for me, but it was mostly him, literally, fellating the whole movie.

The Accidental Husband has been on my list so long. I live in a small market, so I always feel like I'm waiting for independent films. Titles that come to mind are Little Miss Sunshine, Juno, Slumdog Millionaire and The Wackness. Took forever for them to arrive in RI, but so worth the wait.

Trick R' Treat is just as good as the hype leads you to believe. I saw a screening at the Mann's Chinese Theatre in October.
All the Boys Love Mandy Lane is also dope, much better than the Wackness. It's the dopeness.
The one that I am curious about. Where this one is hiding - Rob Schneider's "Big Stan." We were supposed to see the Rob Schneider / Keith Carridine vehicle Summer '07. I'm sorry, but any spec script titled "Unrapeable" is alright in my book.

A DVD and Blu-ray version of that film are coming March 24, 2009. I have had my eye on it as well, because I have to see all of Schneider's terrible movies :)

The movie I waited the longest to see was Michael Radford's B.Monkey. I loved the book and was so happy they were making a movie with a really solid cast.
My best friend got to see the original, Miramax'd (hacked) cut at the Venice Film Festival but it was nearly 4 years before anyone else got to see it; and when we did it hardly resembled the Venice cut at all.
Soul Survivors was another one I really look forward to that got Miramax'd. I loved the script when I first read it but, alas, the final film not only didn't resemble the script it was completely incoherent. :(

They even have promo books out for Trick 'r Treat, but not even a lame direct-to-dvd release

Pffft I could do better than these studio bosses. Killshot has a january release at the moment, i'd hold it back for march, that way after Rourke's inevitable oscar nomination/possible win, you can slap that on the trailer and hopefully do more busniess riding on his award success.

Trick 'R Treat! I've been waiting for SO long to get a chance to see it, i must have seen the preview like 20 times!
Why don't they just release it already, then we might stop bugging the WB about it.
Also, the Poughkeepsie sake looks pretty good. A friend saw it and said it was well worth watching!
but i'm still primarily routing for Trick 'r treat!!
