Cinematical has just received this exclusive teaser poster for this summer's hotly-anticipated Land of the Lost, starring Will Ferrell, Danny McBride, Anna Friel and Jorma Taccone. Based on the classic television series, Land of the Lost was directed by Brad Silberling and follows a has-been scientist (Ferrell), a crack-smart research assistant (Friel) and a redneck survivalist (McBride) who get sucked through time and spit out into an alternate universe -- one that finds them running from dinosaurs and weird reptiles called Sleestaks, while trying to figure a way out of this hybrid dimension. Really looking forward to watching Ferrell and McBride pair up on screen together, and with the "alternate universe" angle thrown in, I'm sure we're in store for all sorts of ridiculousness.
Land of the Lost arrives in theaters on June 5, 2009.

I'm not a fan of Ferrell and I am sure that this will be pretty mediocre in the end but I do kind of want to see it. I am too young to remember the series from the 70s but I did watch the one that ran in the 90s and I really liked it as a kid.

I was positive this poster was going to be another "fan-made" item. Some kind of mix of Jurassic Park and Without a Paddle. Then I remembered that Ferrell isn't in Without a Paddle...

I don't know if you could make a serious version of the show but Im against playing it for laughs. I remember watching the show and liked it. It was interesting when the father left and they brought in the uncle. There was some decent Sci-fi.

So not looking forward to this and won't see pay $10 to see it. If they'd decided to do this right and actually make a big budget version of the 70s Saturday morning series then I might be interested, but Ferrell's "comedy" will only ruin this concept.

Land of the Lost is essentially Arthur Conan Doyle's Lost World for kids. So I guess as properties go, it is not so bad a choice to make into a movie. But I am not sure it ought to be a tentpole film for the summer, and judging from the release date I guess that's what it is. Any dino-film with such high aspirations will likely have to contend with comparisons to a certain Steven Speilberg movie.

I used to watch this show on TV and remember, even though pretty young, that I liked it a lot. Basically anything Will Farrell does is funny, so this will be sure to get at least a few laughs.

Just another in a long line of remakes/reboots that are swiftly bringing an end to American cinema. The Indie Revolution is coming!
I'm with Chuck...this would be best as something not played for laughs. I enjoyed this show immensely as a kid...but as a kid, I took it seriously. I don't want to see Will Ferrel put his stamp of mediocre "laughability" on this!

I think it's funny that Will Ferrell played "Marshal Willenholly" in "Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back", and now he's playing Marshall. I laughed hysterically when I heard that name. My friends were like "what up with you?", so I had to say his name slowly for them. Then they laughed, too. :-)

Oh, by the way, I wouldn't pay a dime to see this. Remakes and sequels display the worst form of insult and apathy that Hollywood has toward moviegoers. When they come out with a truly unique product, I may return the to the theaters. Until then, I'll wait until they come on the free on-demand channel at home.
