First 'Street Fighter' Trailer Now Online!
Filed under: Action, Fandom, Movie Marketing, Games and Game Movies, Trailers and Clips

The first trailer for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li is now online, and although it's the Japanese version (which would explain the non-English voiceover), it still looks like a half-decent fighting flick. And, I mean, c'mon -- what else are you looking for out of a film like Street Fighter? Are there lots of badass fights in the streets? According to this trailer, yes. Good. Done. Satisfied.
Based on the popular video game (which you had to have played at some point in your life -- remember the one where you were feverishly tapping buttons, while your friends yelled "Dude, how did you do that roundhouse kick?" -- and you were all like, "I don't know, I'm just hitting the buttons as fast as I can!"), Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li follows, well, the legend of the female warrior Chun Li (Kristin Kreuk) as she sets out on a quest for justice ... or something like that. Look, just bring on the fights -- that's all we want.
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li hits theaters on February 27th. Check out the trailer below, and look for an English-language preview to arrive real soon.

I kept waiting for the Street Fighter movie to show up, but they just kept showing a generic action flick! Where's the Street Fighter?!
I'd rather see the anime movie coming out with the Street Fighter 4 game.

Is Kristin Kreuk familiar with Earth emotions? And how do you not show her at least once in THE costume?
That said, I must admit with the utmost embarrassment that I let slip an, "Oh, shit" at Vega's spin move/trailer introduction. I'm not proud of it.

No Van Damme, no deal.
But seriously, that hardly seemed very 'Street-Fightery' so to speak. I noticed Vega, and I guess it was meant to be M.Bison, but who else?
Eh, I wasn't really looking that hard...

Bison (leader of Shadowloo guy) was all over the trailer. Hard to notice him though, since he was decked out in a black suit, white hair, no psychopower, and looking NOTHING LIKE BISON. At least get an actor with a maniacal evil grin!

Oops, I meant Balrog. Well, the black boxer dude anyway, not the dictator chap...

Looks better than that mess of a Dragonball movie, but that's not saying much. It looks half descent is what I guess I'm trying to say.
As for you button mashers, there are some of us that actually know what they're doing while we're playing and we are certainly not tapping buttons. Hmph!

for a movie about chun li we really didn't get to see that much about chun li. and it didn't really satisfy my curiosity about the actual fighting save for a few obvious wirework scenes... and based on previous american made movies, wire-work is not something they've managed to figure out yet.
still waiting for a better trailer.

I'm probably in the minority on this, but I am kind of interested in seeing Smallville's Lana Lang kick butt. Now if only we could get her in a girlfight with Veronica Mars...with both of them in Princess Leah slave girl outfits...but I digress.
