Poll: Who's Actually Looking Forward to Zombie's 'Halloween' Sequel?

Sometimes these movie sites make me laugh: They'll absolutely trash the remake of a classic horror film like Halloween, but as soon as the sequel gets going, they race to throw up the first bit of casting news, or photos, or release date, as if the first flick never existed. They're excited all over again -- for what ... we have no idea. But anyway, Rob Zombie's Halloween sequel (currently titled H2) has firmed up a release date of August 28th, 2009, returning once again to the time of year that was very kind to it the first time around. A little unrealistic considering August is only eight months away? Sure ... but it's a horror sequel, and they can write, shoot and edit those things in like a month, tops.
Along with the release date, Zombie threw up an image of the new Michael Myers mask in its early sculpting stages on his MySpace page (check it out by clicking the image below). It should be fascinating to watch this sequel grow, since a) the first one made a whole lot of money, but b) it wasn't successful with fans at all. Could the late summer release actually hurt the film this time around? Would it do better during Halloween season -- perhaps convincing those fans on the fence to see it because it's October and they want more horror? We're sending out a feeler to see how many of you are actually looking forward to this sequel, so sound off below ...

I really like Zombie's "House" and "Rejects" so I had high hopes for "Halloween" and I was seriously disappointed. It didn't have that Zombie factor that his others did. It was just so generic, missing everything that made his previous films cool. I'm hoping that the studio lets him loose with the sequel. Hopefully they give him more creative control. Maybe that's what made him finally decide to get on board.

I didn't mind the remake.
It wasn't anywhere close to the original, ... or even H20. But it exceeded expectations. But that was mostly because of the ending, because I thought Zombie was trying to be it clear that this wasn't going to have any sequels. So this is going to be horrible and makes Zombie's first Halloween almost worse.

I really liked Zombie's first halloween movie. It wasn't actually a "remake", as he made it his own way instead of making it just like the other Haloween movies. He told the story from the beginning of Michael and his family. I was actually crying at that movie! I haven't seen Zombie's other films, but he did a great job on this one. :)

Can we just keep Rob away from film making?

I'd rather Uwe Boll direct it. Seriously.

I enjoyed the first one and am looking forward to the sequel. I don't know how the hell Rob Zombie plans on telling the story since Michael basically had less melon left than at a Gallagher show.
@ Scott Weinberg - Let's not take it too far. Lmfao.

I'm pretty sure Rob Zombie is the worst filmaker working today. Halloween was a giant piece of shit, and a waste of my time and my money. I see so many damn movies in a given year it's not even funny, and I never walk out of any of them, no matter how bad, but this shit pushed it for me. This movie BLEW. Zombie trying to re-make classic Carpenter is cinematic blasphemy.

i grew up on horror movies no offense but who ever didnt like rob zombies halloween has no business even rating or talking about n e horror film.it was great.this is the year 2007 not 1978.the original halloween was great .it is a classic .exactly what it sounds like a CLASSIC.that film is history.but i guess thats too bad for whoever didn't like robs halloween remake ,because H2 is coming .rob showed us michael as a boy and what kind of family he had .his childhood life.every actor and actress did a great job .halloween is my favorite horror/slasher film series of all time.i was satisfied and it turned better than i had thought it would.there r so many people who try to talk bad about this film .no offense but if your not an opened minded person ,dont bother seeing any remake at all. i appreciate what rob did in the first halloween as a huge fan of all horror films and i can't wait for the sequal to come out .i liked the characters and i can't wait to see what rob has in store for them.i just hope all same actors and actress return ,cause thats what draws u back in for a sequal.please do us all a favor all you people who dislike the first film save yourself the time and money and dont put your 2 cents in about this film because i'm pretty sure yall will be in line at the theaters this august for H2

You hit it exactly on the head, Eric! I'm a horror nut and the Halloween movies are my favorite series of movies and I thought Zombie's version was very good. It gave a lot of story line/information that was missing from the original without sacrificing the horror. Re-makes are better if done this way as long as they're not CHANGING the plot itself, which Zombie didn't do. I'm hoping the Friday and Nightmare re-makes elaborate on the story lines the same way. Classic horrors are great, but seeing them done with today's cinematical technology and adding some "missing timeline info" makes them all worth re-doing, if done by the right people!
