'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' Poster Hits!
Filed under: Fandom, Movie Marketing, Images, Posters

So the first poster for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (aka Transformers 2) has arrived online via Yahoo, but I'm totally bummed Michael Bay didn't use a better tagline. What we have is the face of a robot with red eyes (the Fallen?) and the tagline Revenge is Coming, with a release date of June 26, 2009. In my opinion, however, this poster would've been ten times better had this robot face come with a tagline like Hey Summer, Guess Who Just Showed Up To Kick Your Ass Michael Bay Style! or Hey, The Fallen, Meet Awesome Part Two!. Whatever. I guess we'll take this until the first trailer debuts ... (Superbowl Sunday?).

I think it's a good tagline.

I kind of like the brooding suspense vibe it has going for it... Simple but effective.
And you have got to admit, as far as glowing red eyes go... Those are some pretty damn good glowing red eyes.

It's Megatron. The tagline is referring to his revenge.

Weak. Looks like a first draft of the Diablo III reveal artwork.

It's not Megatron. It's a seperate character called simply "The Fallen". His face is where the Decepticon logo originates. Take a close look...

Didn't they state that Megatron isn't in this (and that the concept art is for a new toy)? Hopefully that's not true, because if it is that means they delegated one of the coolest villians of all time to just a 15 minutes of screentime...which must break some kind of law somewhere.
Fallen is a different character from the comic line.

This sequel is based on the comic line now? Count me out. I grew up on the show, not some comic. So, it'll be completely foreign to me and others I know.

Well, according to Michael Bay's statement (quoted on on iesb), people just want to see more robots kicking ass, so stuff like cohesive storyline and pleasing G1 fans can take a back seat.
I still haven't recovered from what they did to Jazz, and turning what should have been Prowl - one of my favorites - into a villian

It saddens me to see comments like hotmommy above because the story of The Fallen (if Bay uses it) opens the story up to be incredibly deep and wholly interesting.
If they use the real story, we have the possibility of introducing the Original 13 Transformers and Primus and Unicron and all sorts of crazy stuff.
But, granted, Bay probably won't get that in-depth with it. My point is that just because it's a character from the comics doesn't make it bad. Frankly, the comics are far more compelling nowadays than G1 was. Storylines are more thought out, characterization is better, etc.
Love the poster, cannot wait for the trailer.

I think the Image is tough...and the tagline is simple but ominous and effective...people who give still Michael Bay shit should already know what kind of movie he is going to deliver and just embrace it - for those who didn't enjoy the first Transformers, I feel sorry that they can't just enjoy it for what it is. Bright Hews of Colors, signature sound and visual effects...and some good heavy (though implausible) action...if realism is what they are looking for, Michael Mann's Heat will always be there...I know I always go there for my crime fixes.

Yeah this tag line could have been better. Something like, "vengeance will have a second chance".
