11:02.5pm -- Oh, that's all, folks! No wacky outtakes so far as I can tell. Well, take it easy, the lot of ya.

11:02pm -- Who's more eager to jump the gun tonight: the orchestra, or the man with his hand on the FCC silencer-o-matic?

11:00pm -- Tom Cruise presenting Best Drama. Winner is... Slumdog Millinah! Not undeserved, but again, a particularly international film striking a chord with an especially foreign press. With the Oscars, who knows, but its Best Picture nomination at least remains a sure thing.

10:58pm -- And here we are, sixty-four minutes into this final hour of ours and counting. I'll stay if you'll stay, folks.

10:53pm -- I can't do Rourke's gratitude justice. Trust me on this. Christ, he's even going on about his dogs, and who's to stop him? That orchestra, of course.

10:51pm -- Best Actor in a Drama would be... drum roll... The Wrestler's Mickey Rourke! F'n A!




10:46pm -- Mad Men. Revolutionary Road. Fifties malaise and titular alliteration. Patterns, people...

10:44pm -- Best TV Drama: Mad Men. I really need to catch up with this friggin' show.

10:42pm -- A deservedly gushy Winslet blows co-star DiCaprio and husband Sam Mendes simultaneously before an audience of thousands(ish). Which is fine, because she's Kate Winslet.

10:39pm -- Cameron Diaz and Mark "Talks to Animals" Wahlberg bumble their way towards Best Actress in a Drama, namely Kate Winslet in Revolutionary Road! Two for two, babe! And prepared speeches to spare. Weeping, apologizing, blanking on Angelina's name... too adorable to bear.

10:35pm -- A lollipop to anyone who can guess just how many two-liter bottles I've filled with urine, Schrute-style, since this broadcast began.

10:31pm -- Best Picture, Comedy or Musical goes to... Vicky Cristina Barcelona. The HFPA: putting the "Foreign" in "Hollywood Foreign Press Assocation" for the past two minutes or so.

10:29pm -- What is Sacha Baron Cohen doing with Lionel Richie's hair?

10:28pm -- Salma Hayek is lovin' up on Vicky Cristina Barcelona. I, meanwhile, can't stop thinking about Wild Wild West for some reason...

10:26pm -- Fun with commercial break quips! "I've been in and out of this post so many times in the past hour that..." (Finish it!)

10:23pm -- Dominique gets points for reminding us, if not the HFPA, that Slumdog was co-directed by Loveleen Tandan. What more can one do...

10:21pm -- Colin Farrell wins Best Actor for In Bruges! And works in a Recount joke along the way. Seems sincere and humble and charming and all those qualities you hope for but rarely get. Again, people: see this movie.

10:19pm -- Though I want to trot out the r-word on Sandra Bullock again, her part this evening is small enough to earn/count as mercy.

10:17pm -- Sigourney shines spotlight on Revolutionary Road.

10:15pm -- Danny Boyle wins Best Director -- Drama for Slumdog Millionaire. Yay! (No one calls them the GG's, though, Danny Boy.)

10:14pm -- I AM into Emma Thompson, though. In all ways proper and platonic, of course.

10:12pm -- I'm just not that into these He's Just Not That Into You spots.

10:09pm -- I love the man Spielberg, but he finished while I was digging the Chappelle's Show "Wrap It Up!" box out of my closet.

10:06pm -- "Hollywood is basically incestuous."

10:03pm -- Take a shot every time he says "Cecil B. DeMille."

9:59pm -- Yeah, whoever insists on giving Spielberg flack for his happy endings ought to look at this montage and just shut the eff right up. He'll replace all y'all with walkie-talkies someday.

9:56pm -- If anyone ever wanted to see Scorsese blow Spielberg... there ya go.

9:54pm -- Day 56 of Globes Watch, and the mood is tense! Thankfully, Davis and Weinberg have been able to alleviate the mood with some of their signature snark. And now... well, whatever's next.
