New 'Avatar' Image Reveals ... Little

Like the first official image from Avatar, this latest glimpse of James Cameron's super-secret project is strictly behind the scenes. Apparently, this is the Avatar chamber where the consciousness of human pilots are "uplinked" to their Na'vi bodies. The Na'vi are those mysterious, blue-skinned, cat like creatures that inhabit Pandora, and only by inhabiting a copycat body can the human members of the Avatar program get close to them. Exploring Pandora without one is fatal, since the planet is toxic, and full of predators.
You have to give Cameron credit for managing to keep this film on complete lockdown. It really is pretty exciting to have a flick on the horizon that we know nothing about ... although it doesn't make typing "Na'vi" and "catlike" any less silly. Come on, Mr. Cameron, give us a photo of an alien so we've got something to go on?
The above photo comes from The New York Times, where there's little about Avatar, but a lot about the headaches of Hollywood's 3-D financing.

awesome. I can't wait to see this movie : } the more i hear about the plot, the more cooler it sounds. Same thing with the phots. I'm a filmmaker wanna-be kind of geek so this interests me. plus, the more and longer the movie is kept in secret, the more the anticipation builds

I was reading your post and thinking the exact OPPOSITE of what you said at the end :) Doesn't this movie come out in December? So aren't we getting a lot of behind the scenes footage for a movie that doesn't come out for 11 months? I mean, Transformers is a summer blockbuster that gets talked about all the time on this site, and all we've gotten out of that movie are a bunch of pics and a few behind the scenes videos. I can't remember how early we were getting things for the LotR's movies or Harry Potter films (other December blockbusters) but almost a year in advance seems like its still early. Just me though.

I've been trying to decipher the enormous amount of hype over this film, but it just doesn't make sense to me. What's the big hairy deal?

It's James Cameron doing sci-fi in 3D with a multi-hundred million dollar budget... It is also known to have a lot of new tech and CG techniques never before seen in movies that should produce some pretty jaw dropping effects, especially with the aforementioned 3D.

I for one an glad that little to no details are being revealed about the film. I'm also glad that it's gonna be something new, fresh, original, innovative; with cgi and cinematic techniques the likes of which has never been seen in film before and if anything, James Cameron is the right man for the job.
Can't wait!!! Anticipating this film BADLY!!!
