Watch This: Golden Globes Most Controversial

We always love it when there's a little controversy during a major awards show, because not only does it make the ceremony slightly more fun to watch, but it also gives us something to talk about, constantly, the following day. Thus, the two most controversial parts of last night's Golden Globe awards didn't come during an acceptance speech (although director Darren Aronofsky's giving "the finger" to Mickey Rourke was definitely a highlight for East Coasters); instead, two British comedians presenting clips for the films nominated in the best feature category were the talk of the town.
The two, Ricky Gervais and Sacha Baron Cohen, are known for taking risks with their comedy, and for making fun of Hollywood ... like, a lot. But on such an important night for the entertainment industry, and on a show broadcast around the world, were their jokes all in good fun or absolutely tasteless? Watch Sacha Baron Cohen's bit below and Gervais' little beer-drinking clip after the jump, then let us know whether you found them offensive, hilarious or just plain whatever.

Tasteless? Are you kidding? Gervais was laugh out loud hilarious in that clip. I nearly had a hot beverage come out my nose all over my computer screen. I didn't watch the show, but damn, I will watch more awards shows if Cohen or Gervais host them.
Movie awards shows are essentially ridiculous, so they do need a funny comedian (i.e. NOT Whoopi Goldberg or Ellen) to deflate the self importance.

Gervais was hilarious and once again (first time being when he stole this years Emmy's) he shows why he needs to be hosting an awards show. I love that he went onstage drink in hand.
I also thought Cohen was funny, and his jokes we're hilarious bad taste or not. But he's no match for Gervais.

I thought Gervais was hilarious. Love his timing and everything. I didn't think Cohen was as funny, but I generally like Gervais and generally don't like Cohen, so that's to be expected.
I didn't really think either was particularly tasteless.

I found Cohen's joke funnier than I would have after seeing the audience's reaction. You'd think those people would lighten up a little, what with the open bar and all.
As for Gevais, the most risque portion of his presentation was telling everyone to shut up.

Monika,
If you're from canada, try a program called 'hotspot shield', it allows you to view the embedded clips as well as stuff from Hulu, etc.
I'm using it and it works like a charm.

Well, it looks like the GG's could have used more Cohen and Gervais. Maybe more people would have watched it; I just read a press report online that they were the lowest rated Globes event---ever. Nobody watched.
(The reason I didn't watch was that I was too pissed off about the Giants losing to Philly. The Steelers game was good, but I was too disgusted to watch anything else)

Jim you weren't alone. I think I actually hit a chair during the fourth quarter and my wife made fun of me for being such a baby. She just didn't understand how painful it was ...

I was watching the show last night and wondering where the censors were (Not mad, just surprised at how vulgar and awards show could be)... not for Sacha or Gervais, but for people like Aronofsky giving the finger to the camera (What is this, WWE?), that one dope telling The Wrestler he wants to do cocaine with him, and Colin Farrell alluding to his cocaine addiction.
I couldn't believe how much they were getting away with... Gervais and Cohen were the LEAST controversial, and the funniest next to Tina "Suck it" Fey.

Really we need to censor cocaine jokes?
And I'm pretty sure that Seth Rogen didn't write his lines only read them off the teleprompter.

They were both awesomely funny. If some people can't take a joke i actually feel bad for them. Cohen's Jokes weren't even that controversial if you ask me. I'm sure the tabloids have said worse things than Victoria Beckem and Madonna.

Ricky Gervais was hilarious.
For those who don't know Ricky Gervais had a show he wrote and starred in called Extras and there was an episode where he was an extra in a movie starring Kate Winslet who played herself playing a nun during the holocaust for the sole purpose of winning a Oscar.
That's what Gervais was refering to when he said "I told you, do a holocaust movie and the awards start coming"
Just useless FYI.
