Rumor: Sienna Miller Fired From 'Nottingham' for Being Too Hot?
Filed under: Action, Casting, Universal, RumorMonger
The bad news just keeps coming for Ridley Scott's revisionist take on Robin Hood; delays, confusions over the script -- heck, even the foliage wasn't cooperating. But, this latest piece of gossip to hit the web confirms that no matter how you slice it, all is not well in Sherwood Forest. The latest blow to the beleaguered flick (as reported by the New York Post) is that Sienna Miller has now been fired from her role as Maid Marian in the action adventure. So what could have prompted the casting change? According to those wags at The Post, Ms. Miller was just too darn sexy. A source was quoted as saying, "It is a mess. Russell never lost the weight he put on for 'Body of Evidence' - and so the love scenes between him and Sienna would have been laughable. He's so old and fat and she's so young and gorgeous. It's just . . . gross." Pretty mean stuff, although it's kind of nice to see male stars getting the heat for body image for a change. The source also went on to say that producers were going to look for a new co-star that was a little closer in size, and age to Crowe.
The official word from the set was that Miller was "released" from her contract, but producers gave no further details as to the reason for her departure. News of a troubled set has been leaking for some time, along with rumours of battles between Scott and Crowe escalating out of control (which has since been publicly denied by Crowe and Scott's agent).
So do you think that Nottingham can ever come back from all of the bad publicity? And does it matter what people are saying during production if the finished product kicks ass?

Nobody will care if the movie is any good. But a fat a** Russel Crowe nobody wants to see. He needs to get it together quick. I also like the fact that Hollywood is becoming more and more concious of the age difference between the leading ladies and the leading men. But it is ridiculous to fire an actress for being too hot. That just sounds bogus.

Firing her over being too good looking strongly suggests that whoever cast her either only knows supermodels or doesn't have a clue what they're doing. Since both Crowe's weight gain and Miller's remarkable looks were known beforehand, the latter must be the case.
Casting people despite them not being right for the part is bad directing, plain and simple.

that's awesome.
she's the one getting fired for not being in shape and the rest of us are left with an overweight Robin Hood?

Here's a thought: let's NOT put a love scene in there! Shocking!

"The source also went on to say that producers were going to look for a new co-star that was a little closer in size, and age to Crowe." So, is Russell Crowe not going to lose any weight?
I think there are much larger, pun intended, issues than a love scene. I think he's going to look rather silly in his costume. I wonder if they are intending to cast a larger Friar Tuck to offset a heavier Robin Hood?

He might need Rosie O' Donnell to play the love interest.
There's this thing about Crowe not being Robin at all, don't ask me why, he just isn't...X(

Here is a crazy thought. Why not recast Crowe's part to somebody more befitting? Instead, they punished an actress for being herself.

My guess is that Scott wants this to be a Crowe vehicle more than a good movie.
It reflects badly on the movie no matter how you look at it, but Crowe should have been shown the door if he showed up for work out of shape. End of story.

Rriiiiggghhhttt. Get rid of the oscar award winning actor and keep the tabloid headlining lead actress. What parallel universe would that make sense in? The whole story sounds bogus to me, not because I could not see it being true, but just look at that quote. "He's so old and fat...shes so gorgeous...its gross". That sounds like the exact opposite of a quote from a pro close to the source, and rather sounds like a comment from a friend of hers. Might as well just say "She's totally awesome and great, and he is icky. I'm glad that she doesn't have to be around that poopy face anymore!"

The only good Robin was Michael Praed back in the 80s in
the BBC production of Robin of Sherwood. That entire cast was great and even had a then unknown Ray Winstone as Will Scarlet.

Some of you must be kidding! Fire an actor of Russell Crowe's caliber and keep someone like Sienna Miller? Please! As for Crowe's being too old and fat- He's lost a lot of weight lately. I'm 24 and I'll take him any day!

These derogatory and self congratulatory rumours were spread by an unidentified source close to Miller because she was dumped.
They are false and have been officially denied by Scott and Crowe.

That is mean to call Crowe old and fat, and he is a great actor.
Even before she was known for her celebrity partying lifestyle and affairs her films always dived.
They dropped her officially because she was a liability and I think there were other reasons such as her performance and she wasnt physically right etc..but I think mostly it was down to her rotten personality.

Crowe has in fact lost almost all the weight Scott requested for BOL. The studio and Crowe both deny weight is the issue. I think you've been duped by Miller's publicity team laying a false trail.

for Crowe's current weight and shape as of Dec.

Could it just be that Sienna was dumped merely for being a crap actress?
Has Russell succeeded in stabbing Ridley in the back (aren't they friends?) and having him fired from his own movie?
Has Russell had one of his two roles taken from him and will now aussie actor Steve Innes play Robin Hood or the Sherrif?
Can this movie actually proceed past tthe bullshit stage?
This is getting more like "The bold and the beautiful" every day!!!
