Check Out Those Superbowl 3D Glasses

I meant to post these early last week, but with the Sundance Film Festival absorbing practically all of my time these past 10 days, I never got around to it. Thus, this could be extremely old news and/or serve as a reminder to pick up your pair of free 3D glasses for the special 3D Monsters vs. Aliens trailer during the Superbowl. I picked these up over at the Albertsons supermarket here in Park City, Utah, and there were stacks of them (with four pairs to a sheet) just sitting in a display case down one of the aisles. One imagines you'll also be able to find these at one of your local supermarkets, so keep an eye out.
Once you've obtained the glasses, though, you'll need to make sure to tune in at the end of the second quarter (ie: right before halftime) in order to watch the 3D commercial. Those who don't have the glasses will also be able to watch the trailer, just without a bunch of Monsters and Aliens running through their living room. We've placed a larger image of these glasses in the gallery below so you know what to look for. We'll be back after the Superbowl to get your thoughts on not only the 3D trailer, but all the new trailers premiering on game day. Monsters vs. Aliens hits theaters on March 27.

No one seems to know... will the Real-D "My Bloody Valentine 3-D" Glasses work with this stupid trailer? For that matter, the stupid "Chuck" episode*?
*Angry tone due to the paper glasses not being available anywhere. Where the f is a SOBE display? That's not even a real thing.

IDK but in this picture they look like they are in black which would mean that they are the same ones from my bloody valentine so i hope that they work and if not then oh well.

The lenses do look dark, similar to the Real-D glasses, but I still haven't been able to find out definitively. Guess I'll know if my screen doesn't pop out at me.

The real-D glasses will not work with the super bowl commercial. But if you have the super bowl glasses, check out http://www.goldentheband.com/3d to watch some cool 3d content made for those glasses!

Got these a couple weeks ago at Wal-Mart. There was a huge cardboard setup with tons of chips and salsa and 2 LCD tvs playing football games, sportscenter, etc.
Good Luck!

Are these glasses the standard red/left, blue/right as used with other 3D, such as Medium a year or so ago?

Glasses are Amber and dark blue, the color still shows some blue here and there, but overall if the picture is right it seems pretty real for super cheap 3D, far better then the previous red/blue which sting your eyes after a while. I still think the ones that they hand out at universal studios (i think real-d or sumthing, the darker gray colored ones) are the best on the market atm.

Needing stupid paper glasses in order to watch a movie, a trailer or a TV show= FAIL.
Seriously, I'm hoping Hollywood isn't putting their eggs in the re-emergent 3-D fad. It may be a nice gimmick for an animated kids movie, but what's up with James Cameron using it for AVATAR?

Agreed. Camerons an idiot, if he knew what he was doing he would stick with the classic black and white and hire somebody to play the damn piano at every showing of his movies. Thats the way God intended movies to be seen.

The 3d this is using and the new Real 3D technology are completely different. This is a (supposedly) better version of the old red/blue 3D, hence the dual-colored lenses, whereas the new Real 3D uses a new type of projector which is not available for home use.
Hence the My Bloody Valentine 3D glasses won't work, because they are 2 unrelated technologies.

I'm sure we'll be able to find them soon!. chill. What’s even better than Chuck in 3D? Bikini Models from California in 3D! There is a new company using the same technology as “Chuck” for 3D video dating. Check out ww.CyberDateMe.com after Chuck, if you’re a techie like me.

Whoa. Scroll down with your mouse wheel while looking at that image; it almost looks like its 3D itself; the optical illusion of the stacked trapezoids is kinda disturbing.

A lot of questions about the 3D glasses all easily solved by a Google search. C'mon people!
I got the 3D glasses yesterday at K-Mart. They are not the same as the usual red-blue Anaglyph system glasses. The red is an amber color. I haven't read up on it but this is a new system designed by Intel called "InTru 3D." (http://www.intel.com/consumer/learn/intru3d.htm).
Also, you can use these glasses the following night for NBC's hit comedy "Chuck," airing Monday, February 2, 2009 (8-9pm ET.)
InTru 3D glasses are free at Safeway/Vons, K-Mart, Ralphs, Kroger, A&P, Frys, Supervalu, Food Lion, Pathmark, Coburn, Fairway, Fresh Brands, Hy Vee, Nash Finch (Econofoods), Dollar General and Winnie Dixie. Target and Meijers will have the 3D glasses only on January 31st.

I was disappointed by the 3D effect. I don't think Intel has anything to boast about with their new InTru 3D™ Technology when used with television. I hope this 3D used in the movie theater such as the coming "Monsters vs. Aliens" will be much more enjoyable.
I haven't used or seen a movie with the old red / blue glasses for so long I don't remember how well that worked.

Just picked up mine at Ralphs. But not all Ralphs has them. I tried yesterday at a different Ralphs and they had no idea what I was talking about. I suggest calling before you go there.
