'Iron Man 2' Rumor: If Not Blunt, What About Johansson?
Filed under: Casting, RumorMonger, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Remakes and Sequels
In an ideal world, I would want to see a fiery Russian play Black Widow in the upcoming Iron Man 2, but this is Hollywood, and nationality usually has little to do with casting. So, the spotlight turned to the UK, and the talented Emily Blunt became the IT-girl. However, there's also this little project called Gulliver's Travels, and the Jack Black-led little project might force Blunt to back out of the sequel. Who could possibly take her place? According to Entertainment Weekly, it could be Scarlett Johansson, who has been in talks to take on the role.
Either the casting Powers That Be took the stupid pills, or this rumor is very false. (Or, they talked to her just to appease her interest.) By now, it's fairly obvious that big names + big talent is what makes these superhero projects so successful, and Johansson certainly hasn't made a "big talent" name for herself. Superstar presence, yes. Woman with acting chops ... not so much. After the mess surrounding Terrence Howard (a man with much more cred), you'd think they'd be even more picky than usual.
Therefore, in light of this news, you might want to start helping Marvel find a suitable replacement, or hope that these projects don't interfere. I'd imagine there's a good chance for the latter (production on Gulliver's starts on April 15, but Iron Man 2 doesn't even have a shooting script yet), but it's better to be safe than ScarJo sorry. Your all insane she is a great actress. One of the better ones coming out of young Hollywood. Her acting in Match Point, Lost in Translation, and Ghost World shows just how versatile she can be.

I agree with you about those 3 movies. But everything since then has led me to believe that we've been duped about her talent. She is acting's paint-by-number, too afraid to go outside the lines. Now, at least.

Then this one time at "band camp" there was the girl: Alyson Hannigan? She could be busy and so out of the question. She ain't exactly Blunt either; but, Hannigan has band camp experience that could prove handy for Ironman

Hello! _Lost in Translation_? _Ghost World_? _The Man Who Wasn't There_? Even in _The Girl With the Pearl Earring_, an admittedly mediocre film, Johansson was impressive. She has not always made wise choices since then--what actor doesn't have a few missteps?--but it seems outrageous to dismiss her as an actress.

I would agree with Maggie. I love Scarlett Johansson! Lost in Translation is fantastic, and Ghost World is great too, like other posters have mentioned. I also loved her in the recent Vicky Christina Barcelona where she played to naive American looking for romance and finding it in the middle of a ménage à trois--I loved the film and loved her in it...I don't know if I see her as the Black Widow, but that is more because I think she has more of a different genre that she fits into, not because she is a bad actress

Olgy Kurylenko is the pick...russian, can act, does action, and a very slinky body adaptable beautifully to spandex...no other choices for my money...Blunt is an okay second

As a human male I would like to wholeheartedly support Scarlett Johanssen in any role where she wears tights.
That is all.

My vote goes to Eliza Dushku. She can pull off the outfit (Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back).

Scarlett Johansson "actress"actually is a clone from original person, who has nothing with acting career.Clone was created illegally using stolen biomaterial.Original Scarlett Galabekian last name is nice, CHRISTIAN young lady.Original family didn't authorize any activity with stolen biomaterials,no matter what form it was created in,it's all need to be back to original family control in Cedars-Sinai MedicalCenter in LA.Controlling clones is US military operation.Original Scarlett never was engaged,by the way

ok i gotta be honest.... what in the world cinematical? she isn't that bad. yes i thought that emily blunt would be amazing. she' d bring a great dynamic to the movie. scarlett wouldn't be bad but i'm not sure if she'd fit the part perfectly. olga maybe but only in a dream world and she hasn't impressed me a ton. honeslty i'm STILL pissed about terrence howard. they haven't started shooting yet, there's still time to bring him back on. hes a great actor and he was amazing as rhodey. and seriously if someone's gonna be war machine.... why not terrence howard?!?!?! he'd be insanely cool! i was really looking forward to the two of them blowing everything to pieces.
