Ms. Heigl: Really? Ashton Kutcher is the Next Step in Your Career?
There has been a lot of buzz over the path of Katherine Heigl's career -- much of which is steeped in rumors about her desire for good material. Whether or not some of the particulars are true, like rumors that she wants to exit Grey's Anatomy due to crappy storylines, I think it's safe to say that she definitely portrays herself as a woman with a plan. A woman with a crappy rom-com plan thus far, but a plan nonetheless. I just can't believe that it includes Ashton Kutcher.Variety reports that Heigl and Kutcher will star in Lionsgate's new thriller called Five Killers. Following director Robert Luketic to the feature, straight from The Ugly Truth, Heigl will play a woman who meets the man of her dreams (Kutcher) while on vacation and gets hitched. Unfortunately, "married bliss is turned upside down when they discover that their neighbors may be assassins hired to kill them."
Unlike many, I wasn't angered by many of her public comments. I understood her point of view over that whole Knocked Up kerfuffle, and I thought it she was quite honest and rational with her Emmy withdrawal last year. But her big screen choices make any complaints about mediocre storylines, or determination about her craft, a complete joke. Will any of you actually go see this?

I will wait until it come out on dvd. Count me as one of the people who were angered at her comment about Knocked Up. Sometimes I believe Heigl make comments just for self promotion. If Heigl really feel the way she did about her character in Knocked Up, don't make your next film role be about a weaker character (27 Dresses). I agree with you that her complaining is a big joke

I would watch Katherine Heigl read the yellow pages - definitely count me in.
Heigl got such an unfair bashing for her comments on Knocked Up. She was not critical of the movie and people just went along with headlines totally out of context. The ten thousand times she said how great the movie was, how much she enjoyed the experience, how grateful she was...just get wiped under the carpet. Her quote about it being a little sexist was in response to a question about the role of women in the movie and did she think it portrayed women in a bad light. She said it was a little sexist and painted the women as humorless but she understood that this was because the humor relied on the exaggerations of the characters and she hoped women would understand this. Of course the headline was "heigl says knocked up is sexist". Pathetic journalism and to be honest I think the press have just been really vindictive towards her over the past few months. I think most of it has been very undeserved.
Give the movie a chance - if it sucks then fair enough but they havent even filmed it yet. Ok so 27 Dresses wasn't a world beater but it was a romcom she wasn't trying to make an Oscar winner just something fun. She has spent 5 years on Grey's Anatomy largely involved in death and drama and probably a bit of comedy is a refreshing change for her.

I'm not Ms. Heigl's biggest fan (complaining about the parts you've played after the fact is pretty unprofessional in my opinion), but is that really the most flattering picture of her you could find?

It just shows that if Katherine Heigl is stuck doing a movie like this and she supposedly is the next big thing, roles for women are getting more and more scarce and more and more pathetic.

Maybe on a plane, trapped somewhere over the Atlantic and it's the only choice between it and the guy snoring loudly next to me.
