Watch This: I Miss Moranis

If you're like me, you wake up practically every morning thinking about Rick Moranis and why he decided to leave us so soon. Granted, Moranis has been doing some voice work here and there over the past several years, but he had a stretch there where it was just so damn comforting to find him in a film. To name a few: Ghostbusters, Spaceballs, Brewster's Millions, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Parenthood, Little Shop of Horrors, My Blue Heaven, Little Giants ... oh, do I miss this man. I'm not sure what happened to him later on because it's obvious he's still working (he even released a country/comedy album in 2005), but I'd just give anything to see him show up in a dorky cameo somewhere. C'mon Apatow, find a place for Moranis -- help bring him back to us!
Anyway, this dude feels the same way I do -- only he took it one step further, created a song, recorded said song, and shot a video of himself traveling around Los Angeles with Moranis' face on a poster board. Strange? Yes. But we salute this man and all the other Rick Moranis fans who've been left empty-handed since the late 90s. This is for you, Rick. Please come back to us.

Sheesh... reading the first few sentences you'd think he was dead. I too miss him, but don't think he has a place in today's "comedy"

What?! He most certainly has a place! At what point will people get tired of Seth Rogen like they have Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey? They'll be begging for Rick's return, much like I am.
He's one of our greatest comic actors of all time, and he's practically vanished into thin air. :(

from what I heard he's just taking a long break to look after his kids. no offense but either you were having a painful nostalgia moment or you need to tone down the obsession over him. its kinda creepy

No, he retired to focus on his country music, which is pretty good.

Two things
1: That album is in no way a comedy album. It is simply amazing.
2: After his wife died, he just didn't feel like acting anymore. So he doesn't. Can't say I blame him.

He was brilliant on SCTV. That was his best work to date.

Ran into him 10 years ago in NY at a pizza place around 70th and Columbus, near where "Ghostbusters" exteriors were shot. I figured that must be very close to home for him, out to pick up a pizza for his kids. Very sweet and approachable guy. He was more interested in me; who I was, what I did. I realized afterward that he had shrunk from moviedom and that my sighting was a rare event that I now treasure.

Rick recently appeared in Bob & Doug's "Two Four" Anniversary show. From what I heard he really didn't want to do it, and certainly didn't want to perform as Bob again. He also reluctantly recorded the voice for the pilot of the animated Bob & Doug show, but he is not doing the actual series. From what my source tells me he is done with being an actor - gets no enjoyment out of it anymore - which is a shame because he is so damn good, but I understand the BS that comes with being in the public eye. Who knows, maybe one day he'll change his mind (I doubt it) but at least he has a great body of work for us to still enjoy.
