Geek Daily: New 'Prince of Persia' and 'Wolverine' Photos, Green Lantern, and Megatron

In the category of "eye candy" comes these two new photos of Jake Gyllenhaal as the Prince of Persia, courtesy of The Huffington Post and residing now in the gallery. These aren't no paparazzi shots, these are the real candlelit deal:
SuperheroHype.com also has a new photo of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, and the official X-Men Origins: Wolverine site has been updated with new character bios and downloadables. The best part? When you go there, Wolverine says his catchphrase. My heart jumped in my chest a little. I won't deny it.
Meanwhile, Michael Bay was revealed to be a big fat liar. Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen cowriter Robert Orci confirmed on TFW2005 that Megatron returns. Hugo Weaving double-confirmed it to Adelaide Now, and hinted how the character might return: "I think in the last one, doesn't Optimus Prime pick up a little bit of, a little shard of the cube, or the thing that's left, and he takes it with him. Maybe there's something there... but I don't know." Bay was then forced to confess on his official website: "Okay cat is out of the bag. Megatron is back -- but you will only get to see him from the long lost past. We go way back in time as this movie explains the mythology of the Primes. He is not a tank like everyone suggests, but an alien vehicle. But sadly he does not has much screen time." Should you believe him? That's up to you.

It's unfortunate because I've seen tons of great still photography from this film that just hasn't been released yet because it's still too early. The only images leaking out are of Jake without his shirt on, and it doesn't do the film justice in any way. So trust me when I say this flick is a pretty cool one, and when the official photos are released you'll see what I mean.

Here's to hoping Megatron comes back at the end and blows a big hole through The Fallen with his arm canon, and reclaims the main villian role in Transformers 3:More Shite Blows Up.
One of the greatest villians of all time being underused like this is such a travesty.

Michael Bay has lied about the most trivial aspects of TF2 so many times I wouldn't put it past him to lie again. Possibly he's miffed that Hugo Weaving and his screenwriter Robert Orci have undercut his policy of obfuscation by giving fans a straight answer. If Weaving seems vague on plot specifics, it's because he never saw the first Transformers film, as he told the Herald Sun last fall. My guess is that Bay wouldn't be bothering an actor of Weaving's calibre just to have him do a minor bit of backstory.
But I'm much more interested in Weaving's onscreen role in Last Ride, which he spent two months making (I'm guessing TF2 took two hours of his time), and which he was in Adelaide to promote. While I understand why the Adelaide Now reporter might ask about the Transformers sequel just to clear things up, it was obnoxious of him not to focus on the beautifully crafted local production Weaving was in town to promote.

I'm really looking forward to seeing a trailer for the upcoming Prince of Persia film, which is when I'll decide whether I'll put it on my to see list or be disappointed that another pretty good video game has fallen into the pit of failed adaptations because of movie companies scrabbling for a quick dollar.
