How Sick of 'Watchmen' Are You?
We always try to keep an even balance here at Cinematical, but a couple of times each year, a buzz-laden flick comes along and we feel compelled to keep up with all the coverage. Now, our traffic numbers indicate that lots of you love the Watchmen news, reviews, and dangling blues, but even for a guy who LOVES big-time event movies and the excitement that comes with 'em, I'm getting a little burnt out on the Watchmen thing. That's not a knock on the film, which I saw once, liked a whole lot, and look forward to seeing again in a few months, but like a wise man once said "The best way to hate something is to love it too much."Nah, just kidding. I just made that up on the spot. (You can see a lot more pith of this ilk in my Twitter cubicle!)
But since Cinematical tries to be an "all-movies" outlet, and not a complete superhero geek-fest (don't tell Rappe), I'd like to poll the populace and ask one simple question. (Oh, fair warning: We do have two or three more Watchmen pieces to publish, but we promise they're good.) Also, start warming up your buzzometers for the next biggie. I guess it'd be ... Monsters vs. Aliens? Fast & Furious? Not quite. Ah yes: Wolverine. See you then!

I am enjoying the discussions about the film and if people liked it or not. I am finding it interesting that people who have not read the novel are loving it more then people who did.

In the end, I decided not to see it in theaters. It's long, I hear, and do I really need to see it this month to be able to determine if it's good? Why would I want to argue with you nerds about whether or not it is worth seeing?
No, I can wait for the Blu-ray 5 months from now, when no one cares about The Watchmen again. That's a comfortable place I'd like to return to.
Usually the more buzz for a movie = the less I want/need to see it. It's easy enough to scroll past articles here if I don't want to hear about it's faithfulness to some mountain man's book, but I don't really need to see/hear any more of it on TV or on Sirius.

I totally agree, I canceled my trip to the mall two days ago due to the over exposure of opinions. I am fed up with no one being contempt. If it's too much like the comic, if it's not, if the end is or isn't, if there's too much blue penis, if the girl isn't good, if the slow motion, blah, blah. I am with you, better to let the hype go down and thoroughly enjoy the director's cut in the comfort of my home.

It's tiring, and the movie's not even arrived at my country, And that's considering I straight up skipped most related videos that wern't trailers.

I'm not tired of Watchmen itself, or the coverage on it in general. You know what I'm tired of? People titling their posts "I Watched Watchmen" or "Why Watch Watchmen" or "Who's Watching Watchmen" some other variation that involves the verb "to watch" with the title. It's the tag line, I get it, BUT IT'S DONE, PEOPLE. It's not clever or humorous.

I avoided everything about the movie before hand so I'm not burned out yet. (Finished the book Friday, saw movie Saturday, so didn't want to get spoiled)

The Watchmen discussion is tired. I say leave it to the fanboys and move on.
