Knightley Says No to 'Pirates 4'
Filed under: Action, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Casting, Disney, Johnny Depp, Remakes and Sequels
Fans of the swashbuckling Elizabeth Swann (aka Keira Knightley) might want to take a deep breath. In an interview with our friends at Moviefone, they asked about her possible involvement in Pirates 4, and the gal tells them, "It was a completely fantastic experience, and it was an amazingly large portion of my life, but I don't think I need to go there again. I think that it's done. But I'm very excited to see the next one." This, we assume, would appear to be a very diplomatic way of saying, 'Not on your life pal'.The Pirates franchise might have made Knightley a household name, but it has become obvious that she's been looking to expand her career beyond playing second fiddle to Captain Jack for some time. Not to mention this isn't the first time that Knightley has said that she would not be returning. So now that we only have Jack Sparrow officially back for the next installment, what could Disney possibly have planned?
Earlier reports had Disney re-booting the franchise as "Captain Jack adventures" and supposedly the film would "toss the Elizabeth and Will characters over the side in favor of doing a bawdy buddy picture which would star Jack Sparrow and Barbossa. Where both captains of the Black Pearl would initially be competing for the exact same prize." But that was over a year ago, and now there are rumors the film will focus entirely on Depp's boozy captain -- but if I may be so bold, perhaps there is a certain British comedian who could be the perfect addition to the Sparrow clan.
So what do you think: will Elizabeth be missed? Or is it about time we all just fess up and admit that the only reason most of us see want another Pirate movie is to see Captain Jack just one more time?

Haha I thought of Russell Brand before I even clicked the link. I'm not sure Pirates can handle two womanizers though.
As for Knightley, it won't be the same without her. The romance is a big part of the film.

Meh- who cares. Anybody could play that role and probably better. Everyone knows the only truly irreplaceable element of those movies is Johnny Depp.

I am happy to see P4 will just be Geoffrey Rush and his gang of pirates vs Johnny.
I have always thought those two made pirates what pirates of the Caribbean is. I never cared for the lovey parts and if you see the end after the end credits of pirates of the Caribbean 3 you see Will and Elisabeth story is over.
So if it is just Rush and Depp I am fine with that.
As for the part about Russell Brand being in P4, I could see him fit in with the other two guys and be a threat to both Rush and Depp so that might be fun to see.

No! Why are they doing a fourth? I love pirates with all my heart, but that was a perfectly constructed trilogy and it needs to end there. Everyone was settled and happy, and if they do any more it will just become a joke, and a transparent ploy to make more money.
Oh and did we learn nothing from the third Mummy? If the anyone in the original cast of a successful francise decides its time to jump ship, call off the whole thing, because that means it's time has past.
They've made enough money, go out on top, and let Jack Sparrow retire.

Jack bored me. On one hand I'm interested, but on the other hand I worry that they're pushing a good thing too far for the sake of a cash cow.

Perhaps that's not that terrible problem, but in any case it is always not quite good to see new faces in the film where you expect to see some well-known ones. In any case, I'll be waiting for the movie! Even if not in the cinema, i think I'll manage to find the film at rapidshare and http://rapidqueen.com . There are many kind people in the world )))
