Laughable Rumor of the Week: Jennifer Aniston, Bond Girl
Filed under: Casting, Celebrities and Controversy, James Bond
There are many roles I can see Jennifer Aniston in, from wacky friend to indie moonlighting. But while we've often seen her rocking a bikini in the tabloids, I never thought it would lead to the biggest bombshell cinematic gig out there -- Bond girl. The latest rumor cooking up at the Daily Express (as outlined on Ace Showbiz) states that after Aniston told Elle Magazine that she'd love to do a James Bond action flick with Daniel Craig, she perked up the ears over at EON, Bond's production company. The source is quoted as saying: "We're always looking for the next Bond girl. She has to be beautiful but she also needs to have brains. It helps if she's athletic and able to keep up with the intense stunt work a Bond movie demands. Jennifer has all these qualities. It's great to hear she'd love to do a movie because we have used established actresses before such as Teri Hatcher and Denise Richards. It's great she's a fan." The source went on to say that it's likely she'll now be called in to meet with producers as another sequel starts brewing.
Call me crazy, but I don't see this working out. Aniston has achieved a great many things, but she's not the woman that exudes toughness and intrigue whilst making men drool. She's got her girl posse, but I rarely if ever hear men (especially action fiends) spouting Aniston love.
So, in honor of crazy casting, go wild in the comments with the most unlikely and crazy Bond girl you can think of. Would anyone be more surprising than Aniston?

A stranger choice than Jennifer Aniston? Jeez, make it a hard one, why don't you?
Cloris Leachman
Roseanne Barr
Ellen DeGeneris
Paula Abdul
Whoopi Goldberg (though that would be kind of interesting)
Pamela Anderson
Lindsay Lohan
Paris Hilton
Seriously, that could go on forever, but you get the point. Jennifer Aniston wouldn't be *that* odd a choice, I think you'll have to admit.

I would argue that Paris Hilton is every bit the Bond girl Denise Richards was.
Interpret that however you like.

I love that you find the notion of Whoopi as a Bond girl interesting.
That would certainly be a whole different sort of 007!

I'm not going to comment on Aniston being a Bond girl, but using Hatcher and Richards as POSITIVE examples? Um, they both sucked. A lot.

Hey hey hey, aren't you forgetting a certain Holly Berry? She's an established actress, and she did the bond girl thing, why couldn't Jennifer Aniston?
Ok, I just totally invalidated my own argument.

The fact they mention Hatcher and Richards, and neglect Berry, or Michelle Yeoh makes it sound like a joke in itself. If they were serious, Aniston should feel insulted with the implied comparison.

Janeane Garafalo
Uma Thurman, but that one makes too much sense, plus she's a step above and hitting Michelle Yeoh territory.

Being a Bond Girl is the equivalent of being People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive." Whoopteeefriggindooo! With that said, Aniston could pull it off. She's an actress if I recall, and she's also better than some of the recent ladies, Halle (not Holly - J) Berry excluded. We've had some horrible choices before, Hatcher, Richards, and I'd even put Eva Green on that list. But I don't see them choosing her anyway, no matter what rumors fly around.

Let The Bond 23 rumour games begin!! Wow this one is the worst rumour yet. First Danny Boyle and Freida Pinto, now Aniston. Ugh. . . . Big Thumbs down! It's like someone (Someone who isn't EON) flipped through one of those celeb rags and said "Oh people like [insert popular movie title] and people like [insert female actress] , they should be a Bond Girl. . ."
Seriously, I thought we were passed the days of the Hollywood flavour of the month or current hot tartlet being the new Bond girl. Berry, Hatcher, Richards, were awful awful Bond girls! No More Hollywood trash!
EON has been on a roll getting lesser known international actresses who have great chemistry with Craig and I hope they continue to do that, and not backslide. That said, I wouldn't mind a Bond Girl closer to Craig's age, just not from the shallow stagnant Hollywood pool.

Laughable indeed. Aniston is about as talented as paris hilton or any other celebutard who makes a living by being in tabloids instead of watchable films. If we're forced to suffer through bond girls who contribute nothing to the movie but scenery, can we at least get someone who isn't over the hill?
While they're at it, can we also get a villain who is actually a formidable adversary for Bond or employs henchmen who are? If they're so inclined to use Aniston they should make her the villain, she's definitely more manly than Amalric was in the last one

This is perfect casting. The dog faced girl would be a great compliment to Daniel 'beaten with an ugly stick' Craig.
We go from Halle Berry and Pierce Brosnan to this duo? Ouch my eyes!

I'm no fan of Jennifer Aniston's but that isn't because of some baseless animosity or utter annoyance or anything of the sort. She's really just a kind of blandly attractive, harmless non-entity in my book. I never watched "Friends" and out of the handful of flicks I've seen featuring her, she was never any kind of draw for me, however, nor did she prove to be any kind of deterrent or flaw.
That said, for some odd reason, I really don't think casting her in the next Bond flick is a bad idea. I think it could possibly be a semi-inspired decision and, surely, there have been far less talented and (arguably?) less stunning actresses that have played Bond babes in the past.
The way I see it, Aniston probably isn't considered to be your typical Bond girl but, then again, the Daniel Craig-led Bond films probably aren't widely considered your typical Bond films and that has sure turned out to be a goddamn refreshing thing so far, has it not?
I'm more than willing to go out on a limb as a viewer and giver her more than a fair shake.
Who knows? Given a killer, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to tackle a well-drawn Bond girl could be just the role Aniston can really sink her pearly white teeth into.
At the very least, it would be a wonderful change of pace and compelling challenge for her career.

Teri Hatcher was the best thing about Tomorrow Never Dies. She's the only one who managed to act.
I could actually see this working out. You don't have to be a female Daniel Craig to be a Bond girl, and I'd like to see someone more Craig's age as opposed to the jail-bait of QOS.
In the spirit of the question, a more outrageous Bond girl:
Emma Watson
Janeane Garofalo
Sarah Jessica Parker

Please god no! I agree that the Bond franchise has been better served by turning to unknown or lesser known actresses. Of the better known ones only Honor Blackman (from TV's The Avengers), Diana Rigg (also from The Avengers) and Michelle Yeoh (Hong Kong action superstar) were real pluses -- and they all had solid action background.
So I hope Eon surprises me with someone new and not some lame celebrity like Aniston... now maybe someone like Monica Bellucci or Asia Argento could perk my interest if they are looking to someone with some name familiarity.

Jennifer Aniston is good at what she does! She's attractive and keeps herself in great shape! Every woman alive should hope to look as good when they hit 40. That said... a "Bond Girl" she's not. Yes there have been mainstream actresses who have played the part and shouldn't have and that's a good lesson. A "Bond Girl" should be exotic, extremely sexy and beautiful. After all, that was the original idea in the books... right! Spy novels always have exotic beauties in them!

I dont know about the bond girl thing, she can not act tough. She can not act period its just another trying to out do Angenlina thing. About this new guy she is seeing this is what I think....
Here we go again! Jenifer Aniston spreading her legs yet again. She is just as much a Hollywood slut as Britney, Hohan & Paris, only difference is she has never been caught on the Camera. And they call her Hollywoods golden girl. If this is what Hollywood thinks is golden they are slim. THis is not the example I want set for any young girl or woman. Just looking at her makes me sick after all the men she has been with. Ewwwwww
