Good News: La Lohan May Leave Acting for Good
Filed under: Comedy, Romance, RumorMonger, Celebrities and Controversy, Fandom
I'm not one to kick somebody when they're down, and lord knows Miss Lindsay Lohan has been on her way down ... but, well ... in an interview for the April issue of Nylon, the actress dropped hints that she is in need of work and that her recent forays into modeling for Fornarina have inspired her to make a career change. So like any other Lohan-related news item, the gossips were on it like a pack of wolves, and now Page Six has dropped the bomb that the actress could actually have a shot at the world of fashion. According to the wags at Six, Ivan Bart, senior VP of IMG Models, is either desperate for publicity or might actually give her that shot. Bart told Six, "She's a beautiful girl and obviously knows a lot about fashion, providing that she was contractually free, we would take a meeting."There is no denying that Lohan's celebrity cache has been dropping faster than a pair of Britney's underwear since her stints in court and various rehabs. During 2008, we watched her lose out on potential career-saving roles, and her latest attempt to win back the 'chick flick crowd' has already been voted most likely to end up in the direct-to-DVD pile. Mainly, the press has been far more interested in her personal relationships than her plans to put her career back together -- and who could blame them? There were cryptic messages on Twitter and public spats; it was the stuff of tabloid dreams. So starlets take note: when you're being called the 'next big thing' and everybody loves you, take a moment to ponder the career trajectory of La Lohan and keep in mind that this could be you.
So who out there still thinks Lohan could have potential as an actress? Sure, she managed to ruin her career by becoming a tabloid punch line, but just imagine what we would think of Drew Barrymore today if TMZ had existed back in the '80s. One thing is for sure, the world needs another model like we need a hole in the head, so hopefully somebody starts returning Ms. Lohan's calls, because I think I would much rather see her act than model. How about you?

She can't possibly leave acting for good...I mean, her natural progression towards some sort of porn still involves some form of acting. It's too bad, because she has wasted her talents in recent years, but look at Mickey Rourke (not truly comparing them from a talent standpoint, but still)...Hollywood loves a comeback tale.

Ok. Lindsay might make it in modeling. However, if she's doesn't show up on time or doesn't show up at all. If she's drunk or high or just plain acts stup[id, her modeling career, will wind up like her acting. Drew Barrymore had the good sense to change her way of living before returning to acting.

It seems unfair but I think for an actor to work effectively in a role they've got to be free from the burden of specific emotional baggage. Lindsay Lohan has it in truck loads. In the U.S. the movie going public wants to watch a movie without being annoyed by the bothersome prick of an actors life if it doesn't walk the straight and narrow. She made her bed, and now she has to sleep in it.

I really don't think that anybody is worried about her she just makes everybody else who thought their life was in the toilet feel better, that is her function lately. Poor thing anyone of us could have been in the tabloids at some ridiculous point when we were in our twenties me included but she is in the spotlight so it is worse for her. She needs to lie low and chill for a while let the world become interested in some other poor trainwreck.

I actually hope she gets her shit together, because despite all we've seen of her personal life, she's a very good actress. Even in "I Know Who Killed Me", I thought she did a decent job. If she outgrows this party-girl phase and lives to see 30, I think she could have a very bright future ahead of her.

The opening sentence of this post reminds me of the gag in Talladega Nights where Will Ferrell thinks he can say anything he wants to someone so long as he says "with all due respect" beforehand. "I'm not one to kick someone while they're down, bbbbuuuuuutttttttt..."
