'Star Trek' Slave Girl Bringing Sexy Back?

Apparently there are some Star Trek trading cards making their way around (do people really use movie trading cards?), and MTV got their hands on a stack full of some new images -- including this hot shot of Diora Baird as an Orion Slave Girl ... and not an obsessed Incredible Hulk fanatic. The images also include a pretty cool spoilerish shot of Zachary Quinto's Spock giving the Vulcan salute to Leonard Nimoy's Spock (technically that means he was giving the Vulcan salute to himself), as well as images of the Enterprise, a new strange-looking alien, one of the Starfleet Academy and more. Yeah, they're all pretty cool, but we thought you'd have fun with this Orion Slave Girl -- kinda hot, no? Green, yes ... but still hot.
Orion Slave Girls are said to be vicious and seductive, and claim no human male can resist them. They first popped up in the original pilot, and have since been featured in Star Trek: The Animated Series, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Enterprise. This new version looks a little greener than in the past, but it's a change that works quite well in my mind. What do you think? We've added a few of the photos to our Star Trek gallery below -- along with the film's final poster -- and you can catch the rest over at MTV. Star Trek hits theaters on May 8.

Diora Baird is, irrefutably, a world-class beauty. I wish she'd finally get some juicy material to work with that isn't minor supporting roles in sloppy, crass comedies like "My Best Friend's Girl" and lackluster slasher sequels like "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning".

Oh, and this new "Star Trek" rebootquel is going to do "Star Wars" better than "Star Wars" has managed to do for itself for nearly 30 years now....which kinda sucks for all the Trekkies out there but totally works for those die-hard padawans like myself who have been so bitterly betrayed by Lucas's prequels, merchandising and animated forays.
Besides, how long has it been since a true, faithful "Star Trek" film or show has graced the unwashed masses of Trek fans? They probably can't even remember the original tone, themes, style and ideas Gene Roddenberry instilled in the property.

Oh, no no no. Please don't get your lightsaber up in expectation. After six movies (three pretty good ones) let's let sleeping wookies lie. Star Trek shouldn't try to be Star Wars unless we are just talking about doing an exciting story.

Alright... not that I noticed, but that little number that Diora Baird is wearing appears to be the same outfit that the hottie (pardon my Old English) that Kirk is featured romancing in the trailer.
By Transitive Law I now conclude that the young lady in question in the trailer = Diora Baird.

Wow. Mr. Davis actually did explicitly state that Rachel Nichols' smoking hot alien lady pictured above is Diora Baird. Gross oversight.
I figured he was just referring to the fact that she's playing a slave girl that is likely in the employ of Nichols' Orion character or something. It's alright, though; I don't think he's the only movie blogger to have made this grievous error.
At any rate, both women are tremendously lovely and talented. "Star Trek" and its army of fanboys, new and old, are very fortunate to have both gracing the surefire blockbuster entry with their presence.

I just checked out the original source of these pics, MTV's noxious movie blog, thinking maybe there was a character image of Diora Baird that led to the mix-up or that perhaps Mr. Davis was referencing and I was unfortunately SOL.
However, it does turn out that MTV are the ones who amazingly managed to idiotically botch the image credit in the first place. They claim that the Nichols pic is actually Baird. Incredible. How the hell do you screw up your own exclusive scoop?
