Sony Announces 'Men in Black 3'!

Apparently the ShoWest Sony presentation just ended out in Las Vegas with the announcement that the studio would be returning to the very successful Men in Black franchise for a third installment to hit theaters in 2011. According to reports at Collider and JoBlo, there were no further announcements as far as cast and release date, however Sony probably wouldn't launch another Men in Black film without at least Will Smith's participation. Will Tommy Lee Jones reprise his role, too, or will Smith get himself a new partner in crime? Will it go 3D? IMAX? Sadly, these questions were not answered. Aside from Men in Black 3, Sony also confirmed that they're working on Spider-Man 4 and Ghostbusters 3, which is news we've already known for quite some time now.
The Men in Black stuff is brand new, though, and if they do hold it for summer 2011, they'll be going up against some mega competition from Avengers, Harry Potter and Spider-Man. Unfortunately, Sony did not talk more about the next Spider-Man sequel, either revealing its cast or villains or production schedule. All we have regarding Spidey right now is its May 6, 2011 release date.
Are you excited for a new Men in Black movie? Did you dig the first two? Which project are you looking forward to the most: Ghostbusters 3, Men in Black 3, Spider-Man 4 or Where Have All The Original Ideas Gone?

Confirmation of MiB 3, Ghostbusters 3 and Spider-Man 4 is exactly the kind of story I would expect to see on April Fools Day.
Sadly, though, this story is true.

The second Men In Black movie was awful. So I guess they can't do much worse.

MiB2 may have sucked, but the Men in Black Universe is a great and fairly original concept, so I'm hopeful they can bring it back to glory

I'd like a sequel that returned to what made the first MIB awesome. Maybe a new cast, I dunno...

I loved the first, but the sequel left much to be desired. Not sure how I feel about this.

The first MIB was awesome, while the second was AWFUL. That sequel had bad casting (on the new roles) and they made a BAD, BAD choice of bringing just about EVERY character back from the original, which was so unnecessary. The plot sucked and it was shocking that it was as bad as it was, considering how good and fresh the first one was.

Alright, picture this: Movie starts and it is K's real retirement party and now J is the seasoned veteran. Will Smith, Shia LeBeouf team up and make sweet sweet cinematic, popcorn flick love. Disturbia meets transformers meets legend of bagger vance.
Horrible idea......my bad.
If this doesn't have Will Smith in it, it will not work. Case and Point!

I have no problem with this. Just please take them out of New York City and into alien realms.

As long as Will Smith does't overact and do tough guy walks everywhere I'll be pretty happy. Oh and I love Looeny Toons but please leave them out of MiB.....

I think a new cast could bring some originality to MIB. Call Steve Carrell. He would be a good foil for Smith or another new actor.

Even if Will Smith is on board for a third MIB movie, it wouldn't be right without Tommy Lee Jones. they go together like Starsky & Hutch. I can't imagine having MIB w/o both of the original stars Otherwise it woul be like having a terminator movie without Arnold. Call me crazy but I am looking forwaRD to the next installment. I just love this movie and IreaLLY don't know why. I'm not sure though if I will see it if TLJ and WS aren't in it.

ok, so i get that the second MIB was bad, however the idea of MIB rocks. if they have at least Will smith and tommy Lee Jones the the rest of the cast can be diffrent with out ruining it. MIB3 also needs a good script and it can't be cheap and the fx have to be good. MIB3 has quite a bit to overcome but i think its possble to make it good
