Let's Talk About: Allure's Weird Naked Celeb Spread
Filed under: Celebrities and Controversy, Fandom, Images
Check it out: Allure magazine asked hundreds of celebrities to pose naked for a random "It'll help your career, we promise!" photo shoot, and the five who actually said yes thankfully happened to be in phenomenal shape, weighing 115 pounds soaking wet. Then they had the nerve to ask them how they felt about their bodies ("well, you know, I'd like to weigh 112 -- but thems the breaks"), whether they sleep naked and a bunch of other meaningless questions -- when all they should've done is posted the images with a headline that read: "The Economy + Smaller Budget = Five Nude Celebrity Photos. Enjoy!Look, I'm a guy who occasionally likes to look at beautiful women. I can't help it, God apparently thought this would be something I might enjoy as I grew older. But this Allure spread, well ... it just reeks of desperation on the magazine's part. The difference between this and a Playboy spread is that these five women (Padme Lakshmi, Eliza Dushku, Chelsea Handler, Sharon Leal and Lynn Collins) probably made it past the seventh grade. Sure, times are tough -- budget cuts and layoffs are all around us -- but does the answer to all our woes really come in the form of Eliza Dushku's birthday suit? Or should we feel better as a society because we now know that Dusku strips down to her underwear and Ugg boots while eating lunch in her trailer? Is this really the kind of material Jesus would've wanted us to read two days after Easter? Think about that!
Feel free to check out a few of these photos in the gallery below, but keep in mind they might be a little NSFW and they're incredibly tacky. Allure had some nerve posting these ...

I am not offended by these pictures of naked women but the sponsored link is completely inappropriate for the subject of this article

Are you serious? I thought they were tasteful photographs. They probably would have looked a lot better in black and white, but saying they are tacky and stating Allure had some nerve, c'mon.

Actually, I was joking
... saying those things and then immediately pointing to our gallery of the images -- it was kind of a joke.

I'm not sure if it's wrong or not to make a spread with these photographs, but I hate the amount of airbrush they used to make their skin perfectly smooth.
Some of it is fine, but these look unreal.
I hope someday the photos of people/models/etc on magazines will actually look "natural" instead of plastic.

As far as I know Allure does a naked issue annually. They always get a collection of female celebrities to take (what they consider) tastfully done photos of them naked. Covering up all the necessary parts to prevent it from becoming a Playboy shoot. As a male I'm not one to complain about seeing Eliza Dushku in the buff. Whether you find these picture tasteful or not is purely your viewpoint. You seem to have more issue with the photos being released shortly after Easter, thus making it a question of moral respect. I'm not really sure why religion should be the basis of this argument. You're entitled find it offensive but I don't.

Dude, Seriously? You just went down a notch in my book.
They aren't high art, but I wouldn't really call them tacky. Your rant just felt strange, odd and really awkward. Also, what's up with the Jesus reference? If your reviews start going this direction, I'll be going somewhere else.

Folks, it was a joke! The Jesus stuff was a joke. Try not to take everything so literally. Relax. I was being snarky, and I'm sure Jesus would have no problem with this photo spread. It's quite the classy number.

Re: "I'm sure Jesus would have no problem with this photo spread". And 'you' know this for certain because....? While the human body 'is supposed to be a beautiful thing', and 'society' claims we have a right to do with it as we see fit, knowing there very well might be a bunch of sick perverted men (and perhaps young teen-age boys) out there "pleasuring themselves" while looking at what they've done by posing nude, your daddy or other male members of your family getting a 'wide-eyed view' of what they look like in the nude, and the "topping on the cake" so to speak the lovable stalker following them around from shoot to shoot, yep they should feel real good about these pics.
I'm not debating, player-hating, or any other choice of words that you might choose, as a woman I'm just stating some of the facts that 'some' men tend to close their eyes to when it comes to pics like these. 'Whoopee!'...scream and shout all you choose, while they are grown-ups, and the choices are very well their own, guess that means you'd do the same if it were your 18t year old daughter, sis, or maybe even your momma (etc.) doing it too. But how about a 'reality check', when your 'home-boy' starts saying things like: 'Your daughter, sis, or momma, etc. is so hot, I wouldn't mind putting a log in her fire just to heat her up', or other such stupid line and even tried to 'get somewhere with her', because of those photos?
Sorry if I've rained on your parade fellas, but these are more than 'nude bodies, and these bodies are more than just 'art', put the females that you love or care about in the photos (even those of you who say you'd 'agree' with what they've done, and the 'consequences' that might follow), and then see how you honest to God feel about what you're looking at then? Peace guys and love from Jesus who cares about you too.

The worst part about a fake "naked" spread (Meaning no one is naked) is when the celebrities in question are complete rejects. No one has ever heard of Padme Lakshmi, Sharon Leal and Lynn Collins.
I would certainly like to see Chelsea in a more revealing shoot though. Again, she's nothing to me, but if you're going to get naked for a picture shoot, how about actually getting naked?

I stumbled on your site and thought I might come back cause you had some backbone about not being like everyone else and pumping these stupid naked pics. But when it seems that you sort of "caved" at the mention of a few, I would not want to come back. It's just the same as Playboy. Celebs that do this in Playboy pose exactly like this, cause they show it blurred out on many celeb news shows. It's soo ridiculous that they feel they need to show random people their naked body, and for what? I'm sooo tired of everyone acting like the answer to anything is posing naked. I can't believe how many women especially don't have more respect for themselves to NOT go this route.
