WTF: 30 Bucks for a Photo with the 'Twilight' Hand Model?
I don't know about you, but I never really cared for the autographs of and photos with the big names of Hollywood. Why go for the familiar faces when you can go for the body parts? That foot. That boob. That hand. Okay, I might be laying on the sarcasm, but there is a spotlight turning onto one visually famous set of hands.During the Eye Con Twilight convention in Florida this year, Convention Fans reports that you can get to know the person behind those apple-holding hands -- Kimbra Hickey. But, such an honor will cost you: To get a picture with Kimbra in front of her Twilight poster, you have to fork over $30 of your hard-earned money. I guess that's pretty cheap for a chance to come close to the most famous hands in the world! I wonder if that thirty will get you a photo a la Janet Jackson on Rolling Stone?
Now I can't take a complete hard line like Convention Fans did. If you want to feature her -- why not? But come on ... thirty bucks? There are many monumentally more notable names who offer their autographs or photo ops for free. But as they also point out -- the rest of this event is ridiculously pricey as well. Just take a look: $35-$295 for access to the event; $60 for an autograph from stars like Peter Facinelli; $240 for a picture with a small group of the cast -- I bet it would be cheaper to fly to Vancouver and stalk the actors there.
Ah, there's nothing like stealing the wallets of eager fangirls everywhere, especially during hard times. Any Twilight fans heading to this convention? Would you fork over 30 bucks for a picture with this hand model?

I've been to a couple conventions just for fun and I always wonder if anyone ever has an epiphany while they're standing in a half an hour long line to get the signature of like 'Q' from Star Trek: The Next Generation, and they think to themselves "wait a second, why in the hell do I want 'Q's autograph?!?!?"
I would like to be there with maybe a cookie and some juice and say 'welcome to THE REAL WORLD'
I will say I did get an autograph from Juilie Newmar that reads 'To Andy, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar'...worth every penny.

For the record, John de Lancie (Q) is totally worth standing in line for. The guy is awesomely funny.
"How'd you get the part of Q?"
"I slept with Gene Roddenberry. Next question!"

Nice. I do believe it.
I mention him because I actually almost ran right into him coming out of the bathroom at the Novi Convention Center during one of these shows. It was a really surreal thing...one of those one second events, then I went 'hey wait, that was that 'Q' guy'.

I've stood in line twice in my life for autographs:
1) Bruce Campbell when he was doing his "If Chins Could Kill" book tour, where I got both the book and my Book of the Dead Evil Dead DVD signed.
2) Kevin Smith at WizardWorld back in 1998, where he signed a one-sheet of Clerks for me and he took a picture with my yard gnome.
I didn't pay anything for the privilege and both guys were really cool.

The only autograph I ever stood in line for was for Eric Davis, the baseball player -- and I just wanted to tell him how annoying it was growing up with the same name as he.

Thanks for linking to my blog!
I'm actually an autograph collector. However, the autographs for me are like tangible memories from the convention or event. Memories tend to get fuzzy with time, and my collection is this wonderful book of reminders about what good times were had.
I do think some celebrities are overcharging and gouging their fans. I also remember when they were included in the price of the con (and that price was less than $100 for the whole weekend).
Obviously this woman falls into the "gouging" the fans territory for me.

That is ridiculously priced,
I went to a twilight convention back in febuary/march and it was know where neeed as pricey as that..$60 is £30 near enough, and i got my autographs with Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene, Peter Facinelli, Justin Chon and Christian Sarratos free!! I Payed £15 for a picture with Peter, and £10 for pics with ashley and kellan.
I EVEN got a hug from ashley and kellan for free!
And just to make you all jelous, Peter gave me 2 giant hugs, AND a KISS on the cheek! for no charge, he was such a gentleman! so lovely!
He called me sweetheart the whole weekend (cause im only 15 so..)
He was genuanly lovely and tbh i dont think the cast have a choice in the cost cause this proves they really love there fans!!

There are so many inappropriate comments that could be made about what you'll be paying $30 for those hands to do.
"Come on baby, it's just a picture for us. No one else will see it. I swear."

I forgot to say what I wanted to say. Lol.
You shouldn't have to pay to get an autograph or a photo with someone.
