The Key to Getting 'Wanted 2' -- Write About Pooh!
Filed under: Action, Deals, Scripts, Remakes and Sequels
We have slipped into an alternate universe. A link between Wicked and Wanted I can get. They may not be the same sort of cinematic beast, but they both have their appeal. However, if you take that Oz-filled family adventure and young it up a whole bunch, and turn it into the tale of a bear who loves honey, the link is lost. The Hollywood Reporter posts that Wanted 2 has found a screenwriter to whip up all that trajectory-bending action -- Pooh's Heffalump Movie scribe Evan Spiliotopoulos.
That's not all he's written. There's also The Jungle Book 2, The Lion King 1 1/2, Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers, The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning, and Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure. Okay, he also has a few crappy films that came with the deluge of family fare, and a pen in Terra, but how did this guy get picked?
He must have really knocked everyone's socks off with Agnes Quill: An Anthology of Mystery, a graphic novel he just adapted, to get this gig. But even that is a family film. If Michel Gondry had to prove his worth to direct The Green Hornet, this guy must've done something extra to convince them.
What say you, Wanted fans? Do you want more crazy bullet action if a Heffalump's attached?

Wow... I absolutely loved the first "Wanted" but am really apprehensive to hear this news. Frankly, I would've liked it if they didn't even try to make a sequel and just left the first alone as a solid piece of work. But in this day and age who am I kidding? Every movie nowadays that grosses slightly more than its budget is practically guaranteed a 2nd and 3rd installment with a follow-up prequel to thoroughly run a storyline into the ground.
I guess we'll see how good his story could be by the caliber of the actors that jump on board as this project moves along. Since JM won't have AJ to work off of after she blew her brains out with the rest of the Fraternity, I'm already much less enthused about where a 2nd movie is going to go.

The first movie was about an average Joe that was offered the chance to stop living a crappy life, and join a fraternity of assassins. He takes it, but then gets cold feet about the assassin part of the job, then enjoys it, then discovers they made him kill his father, then he kills them all(except those who didn't kill themselves). Frankly, I don't think expectations are high for an awesome plot. I have seen better plots in Winnie Pooh baloons.

The Heffalump Movie is one of the greatest cinematic achievements of all time - one that has been tragically underrated. I'm expecting a Criterion Blu-ray release soon. Mr. Spiliotopolous will give us all the crazy action of the Wanted universe plus a story to tug at our heartstrings and allow us to understand the specialness of friendship.

Wow... I absolutely loved Wanted. It was in lieu with Fight Club with James McAvoy's charm. I just don't see how plot can continue and if the new set of cast can reach the charisma of the first film.
