Fourth 'Twilight' Film Gearing Up?

"I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror." As Obi-Wan Kenobi might have said, the rumor that the fourth Twilight movie may be gearing up production for next year may cause millions to cry out in terror, even as hardcore fans squeal in delight.
Breaking Dawn is "in the works," according to The Wrap, though the actual "work" will not begin until the late spring of next year. Their source is "an individual close to the production," though a spokesperson for Summit Entertainment, which owns the rights to Stephenie Meyer's novel, declined to confirm or deny the rumor.
New Moon, the sequel to Twilight, began production in Vancouver last month, "setting Vancouver abuzz for weeks," says The Wrap, "with fans following the production around from location to location, often alerting each other via Twitter." (Maybe that's why Robert Pattinson's embarassing injury got noticed.) Filming under the direction of Chris Weitz is scheduled to conclude late next month, with Eclipse set for release on November 20. Meanwhile, production on Eclipse, the third film, is slated to begin in late summer, with a tentative release date of next summer. A director for that project has not yet been announced, though we know it's not Drew Barrymore.
The Wrap thinks that Breaking Dawn "would logically be scheduled for release before the end of next year," but I'm not sure why Summit needs to maintain such a breakneck pace. Are they hoping to shove the films out before the Twilight fervor subsides? Wouldn't it be better to slow down a little and make the best movies possible out of material that's beloved by millions? That might help them avoid the missteps of the first film. People will wait for good movies.

They would have to be in a rush to at least film all the movies since you have vampires that aren't supposed to be aging. I bet they will still hold off on the releases themselves until later on.

I have absolutely fallen in love with Twilight. I don't believe they could have chosen a better cast. I also think that Summit has a good handle on what they're doing. After all, why would they risk bombing themselves after the first installment being such a huge success? I can't wait for New Moon!

I agree... filming them close together for the sake of anti-aging purposes totally makes sense! And like you mentioned, just because they are filmed ahead of time doesn't mean they have to be released right away!

Anti-aging and striking when it's hot...makes sense. However, one must always remember the movie is never better than the book. Thus, does it really matter when and how close together they shoot the movies?
