'Tell No One' AND 'District B13' Are Being Remade

Oh, us Americans. Even when we turn out for the movies with the words on the screen, we still can't seem to stand those words on the screen. After all, why else would Variety say that an English-language remake in the works for both last summer's art-house hit Tell No One as well as District B13, which kicks ass in any language? The former was based on a crackling mystery by American author Harlan Coben, albeit one transplanted to a French setting, and was most noteworthy for one sweet foot chase and a fairly loopy denouement. (Here's a thought: have the bi-lingual Kristen Scott Thomas reprise her role here.)
The latter was pretty much one sweet foot chase drawn out to feature length, with some punches and kicks thrown in for good measure, as a cop and a criminal parkour their way through post-apocalyptic Paris. (Don't believe me? After the jump... pun moderately intended.)
You know what? Let's combine the two. A doctor under suspicion for the murder of his wife -- who appears to be very much alive -- goes on the run to clear his name AND deactivate a nuclear weapon. With a plot like that, who needs words?

Tell No One even with subtitles was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. It had a very complex plot and a surprise ending.

I know, if only they could have gotten rid of those pesky subtitles! I go to a movie to WATCH a movie, not READ! Why couldn't they speak American! UGH! Foreign countries suck!

The sequel, District B13 Ultimatum, is coming out in US this summer. I suggest you see the original and the new sequel instead of English remakes.

Really? Got a date or distributor? I think we'd all take that over a remake of the first one anyway (not to mention this one's, like, already done and stuff).

Because I heard conflicting dates (June & July of this year), I just said Summer. I am really surprised it's already on the way out so quickly (After French release), but I'm guessing that's due to the fanfare the original movie gained in the USA.
I'm assuming it will be straight to disc, but at least it does have the original stars intact!
Don't know how well you can trust Wikipedia in this situation, but it's definitely a real movie... I've been following the story for about a year, waiting for this to come out. I'm really glad we're at least getting a proper release. Hopefully on Blu-ray!

Why remake them? They were good French films. They will not translate well. Remaking films for American tastes just doesn't work...you end up with unwatchable dreck like The Departed.

I'd like to see how they handle the parkour. You can't really do better than Belle, who invented the darn thing.

Well Tell No One was excellent, people didn't realize you can turn off the subtitles and put it in English. And yes the translation isn't bad because most of the actors can speak english. I just hope they don't "F" this remake up, ironically a English Author making good French Flicks..

I read Tell No One a few years ago. For any of you who read the book, you know they changed some things in the French version. The ending in the book was entirely different from the novel. I am sure there were cinematic reasons for that.
Now that I looked back at the ending of the book, I am interested in how the American version will look.
