Watch This: Cincinnati's Real-Life Superheroes

"I'm sure he won't recognize us because he's blind, but ... I'm sure he'll recognize the taste of a good meal." -- Shadow HareNot long ago we told you about the steady rise of real-life superheroes; men and women who don masks and costumes in an effort to protect their hometown from crime and mischief, while also serving as role models for the community. With superhero movies becoming more popular, it's not a surprise to see real-life costumed heroes popping up in greater numbers around the country and throughout the world. And, as one such case in Cincinnati proves, these folks totally mean business.
Check out this news story on real-life superhero Shadow Hare, who roams the streets of Cincinnati with what appears to be two slightly overweight sidekicks and some masked chick. Okay, so maybe our hero hasn't exactly sailed through puberty yet and discovered his dark, Bale-like growl (even though he's 21-years-old, he sounds like he's 11), but he seems to keep everything else in check. So what if all the local citizens laugh at them as they strut down the street in full daylight -- when duty calls, it calls ... right? My favorite part of this video comes when the homeless guys laugh at the costumes, and spit out something like, "What the heck is this -- it ain't Easter" ... as if Easter all of a sudden became a holiday where people dressed up as awkward-looking superheroes.
Nevertheless, I suppose it's nice to see these kids attempting to be decent human beings instead of beating up old ladies and selling Vicodin on street corners. Still, it is kinda funny ...

I'm sure they were inspired by "Watchmen" but they more closely resemble "Mystery Men". I can definitely hear Ben Stiller saying "I'm sure he won't recognize us because he's blind, but ... I'm sure he'll recognize the taste of a good meal."
Wow. That's even something Stiller would write.

I live in Cincinnati, and this is the first I've heard of it. It's easy to knock on the guy, especially after that embarrassing video, but they are trying to do some good.

I wonder how many 'villain' groups are being drawn to the streets in the hopes of teaching these guys a lesson or two.
Although they are attempting to do some good, it is entertaining to see these mom-made outfits with cut-out eyes wandering the streets...
...reminds me of Cartman. The 'Coon anybody?

Seeing these guys made me want to come up with an evil villain persona just to go out and punch them in the face.
These guys are a menace.

I was made aware of that website a couple years ago. It sounds pitiful. On one hand I give them a round of applause for trying, on the other hand, how long until one of them is killed trying to help.
Kind of reminds me of V for Vendetta and the little girl with glasses.

Reminds me of Mirageman. Amusing Chilean homegrown superhero movie. It's fairly realistic in what would happen if a guy who wants to be a masked hero actually did it. Public ridicule, getting his ass handed to him when some REAL bad guys are involved, and being exploited by the local media.

I applaud him for the effort, but I'm waiting for the story about the kid who swam around in nuclear waste trying to aquire superpowers.
