'Prince of Persia' Footage Kicks Up Some Dust

It would be nice to see something from Prince of Persia other than Jake Gyllenhaal's incredible physique, wouldn't it? There hasn't been anything seen since Entertainment Tonight showed off some scenes, but thanks to a quick blogger, some new footage was grabbed and put online via YouTube. Amazingly, Gyllenhaal is actually dressed in most of the scenes! You don't get to see much (and you hear nothing, as its all narrated by the soft tones of Jerry Bruckheimer) but what you do see is pretty wonderful eye-candy. It's like a landlocked Pirates of the Caribbean crossed swords with Aladdin.
Fans of the game will have to speak as to the plotline -- from what I can understand from good old Wikipedia (and wow, is that an article in need of clean-up), the Prince of the games actually is a prince who is transformed into a beggar, whereas the film is going to use the tried and true conceit of having the royal family adopt a beggar and lavish him with honor ... and shirts, just so he doesn't make all the other guys feel bad with his street urchin muscles.
Our own Erik Davis, who visited the set earlier this year, has said the whole film is "a monster" (in a good way), and predicts it'll be enormous come next May. It seems like it's been in production forever, so let's hope it's worth the long wait.

I don't mean to be a grammar Nazi, but I think you mean OUR own Erik Davis.
Setting that aside, the film looks as if it had some actual effort put into it. We'll see.
As for the game's story, they have different stories, and theychange the lead every couple of years, I think they've had like 3 Princes so far.

Well the story of the sands of time kind of goes like this.
In the sands of time video game the prince is just that a prince and not a beggar. And he and his dad the king invade another kingdom in India, the prince goes off on his own to loot and he finds a pretty nice looking dagger so takes it. After that when he goes back to his father the king is with a man name Vizier (who kind of plays the role of Jafar from Disney’s Aladdin, he works for the king but has his own evil agenda). Vizier and the King are standing next to the sands of time which is a huge hourglass that the Persian army have also just looted from India, the King and the prince think they'll just take it back to Persia as a souvenir, but Vizier tells the prince to stick the dagger in it. And unknowingly when the prince does so the sands of time are released and turns the king and everyone into monsters except for Vizier because he has a special amulet and the prince because he has the dagger which protects him from the sands.
Shortly after that the prince runs into the princess of India named Farah who was hiding during the Persians attack and she’s not affected by the sands because she also has a special amulet that protects her. So they go on their journey to take the vizier down while fighting monsters who used to be real people. So when they eventually meet up with Vizier, Farah dies in action but the Prince of Persia manages to stick the dagger back into the sands of time hourglass and it reverses all the events right up to before Persia attacks India making everything better. So the prince of Persia goes to India and warns Farah about the upcoming attack. Which of course she doesn’t remember him lol and ill leave it at that.
Now from what I have read Jerry B. has already stated that they kind of wont go with this story line because if the only characters are the Prince, Farah and Vizier then that would just leave the monsters that don’t talk so there wouldn’t be a lot of dialogue but it seems they want it similar to pirates of the Caribbean so there will be a lot of other characters to in it I guess.
