Ewan McGregor Nixes 'Trainspotting' Sequel; Doesn't Know Who Megan Fox Is
Filed under: RumorMonger, Fandom, Newsstand
Our pals at Moviefone have posted an interview with Ewan McGregor in which the always-charming Scotsman expresses his opinion on a number of highly relevant topics, starting with his work in Angels & Demons and extending to issues such as onscreen nudity and Megan Fox awareness. First, though, the news: despite director Danny Boyle's enthusiasm for the idea, McGregor has no interest in appearing in a sequel to Trainspotting. "I didn't think the book was very good," he said, referring to the Trainspotting novel's sequel, Porno. "The novel of Trainspotting was quite fantastic ... and then I find that the sequel ... it didn't move me as much."
He also said the sequel's story is too similar to Trainspotting's. "Renton walks away with all the money at the end again. And I thought I don't want to make the same story again. And, also, I think just the idea of getting the cast together again 10 to 15 years later isn't good enough, you need more than that."
So that's it on the Trainspotting sequel. Then, in news sure to astonish certain Cinematical editors I could name, McGregor is asked whether he has a tattoo sleeve like Megan Fox said he did, and McGregor says, "No. I have a tattoo ... but who's Megan Fox?"
Who's Megan Fox?! One can only conclude that McGregor doesn't go to movies about giant space robots that harass teenage girls who wear ill-fitting T-shirts, and that he also doesn't read Cinematical. The guy's really missing out.

Maybe Ewan McGregor doesn't know who Megan Fox is because he doesn't care about talentless teeny-boppers who are only famous for wearing ass-high shorts and posing nude in 'zines. People need to stop obsessing about celebrities. Who gives a shit if he doesn't know who Megan Fox is, he's a better actor than she'll ever be anyways, so why should it matter. Go play in traffic, whoever wrote this stupid article. If all you have to talk about is celebrities, your life hasn't amounted to much. Do something useful in society, loser.

I haven't seen Transformers, but my opinion of Megan Fox is pretty damn poor thanks to the coverage on sites like this that go on and on and on ad nauseum about her sex appeal. I can only assume that's all that's worth talking about.

Right you are. Unforunately I came upon this article while on Moviefone looking for movie times and found it necessary to give this ridiculous site a piece of rational mind. Up yours.

I hear you, Jake. I wish they would stop making no-talent hacks happen. I could care less about that chick.

Previous commentators don't care about Megan Fox because y'all are "Arthouse Cinema Fags". I for one am a proud self-proclaimed one but would still do Megan in the back of a burger king bathroom while the lay-people took whizzes in the adjacent stalls. Yes, that's how dirty I am - even though I read cinematical.
Only difference is I wouldn't cast her in my movie about a priest, a gay rabbi and their relationship in an upstate new york rehab facility. I'll leave that female lead to Mary Elizabeth Mastriantonio. I would however lead Megan to believe I would cast her, all the while squeezing the last vestiges of her mid-twenties juices out like the obese, over the hill filmmaking psychic vampire I am.

Cinematical editors: we hope you're listening. We're kind of bored with your obsesisons and we're ready to go back to respecting this site for it's contribution to film academia.

Have it your way. The truth is I used to feel smarter after reading this blog and I can't help but think I could feel that way again if the writers decided to zip up. If you want to dismiss that point by correcting my spelling, I won't argue it anymore.

Knowing McGregor's attitude, if Danny Boyle decided to do Porno without him, he'd kick up a big fuss about it and not speak to him for years again.
I'm not sure why McGregor's getting so picky now, you'd think with some of his recent efforts in mind he'd want to get together with the old gang and make something fun.

Ewan is a great actor and it seems to me he's a kind person as well, why should he know who Angelina Jolie's wannabes are?

I know this is stupid to gripe over but I haven't read the sequel to Trainspotting yet and I hate that this site assumed everyone who read this interview did. I didn't know that Renton walked away with the money again so thank you for ruining the book for me. Seriously I know everyone gets very annoying with the spoiler warning stuff but I feel this article merited one. For anyone who disagrees with me I'm not trying to be a whiny @#*@. I'm not going crazy over this it's just something I wish I was warned about before reading this post.

Yeah I was half-way through Porno when I read this article. But I sitll say it's worth a read even when you do know the way it's going 2 end. Cos believe me the events leading up to it are very interesting. I watched Trainspotting b4 I read it and even tho I knew how that was going to pan out I still thouroughly enjoyed reading it too. :)

What Ewan McGregor said was the perfect thing to say. It highlights Megan Fox's irrelevancy and at the same time side-steps controversy.
I'm sure he's aware of who Megan Fox is, he just doesn't know her. It seemed to me more a jab at the interviewer which assumed that Ewan would know or care who said what about him.

My respect for Empire magazine was mostly lost the day they had a nude Megan Fox cover. Are you a movie magazine or a talentless airhead celebrity magazine?
My respect for Ewan McGregor has just gone up. An actor who is both unaware/does care about said talentless airhead and who is against pointless sequels? Excellent.

Never seen Transformers and don't intend to see no. 2. Star Trek and T4 FTW (i.e. movies with more-than-superfluous story and character). However, I realise this is a movie blog and I'm certainly not going to get angry about what was at least an entertaining read.
