Name a Movie That Will NEVER Be Remade

My inbox, Facebook, and Twitter page were semi-flooded with messages of support and condolence when this A L I E N remake gossip hit the wires, and that's because (as anyone in the universe can tell you), it's my #1 favorite film of all time. Mainly because it's just about the perfect horror film, but also because it's a movie that helped plant me on the road of movie freakdom, and for that I'm eternally grateful. Plus it has Sigourney Weaver in her underwear.
So if a film as undeniably flawless as A L I E N can be considered for a remake, it begs the question: What movie won't they remake? Keep in mind that Psycho, Halloween, The Manchurian Candidate, and King Kong have already earned remakes, which tells me that all bets are off. Not even Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, or The Wizard of Oz are safe. Therefore, clearly, remakes are a force of pure evil.
Then again, there IS the old Shakespeare argument, the one that says "Hey, the Bard's plays have been remade over and over for centuries, and surely you wouldn't call Casablanca superior to King Lear, would you?" To which I would respond, "Good point. And no, Casablanca is definitely not superior to King Lear. But A L I E N certainly is."

I will actually guarantee you that Citizen Kane will be remade. It will be a remake more for style than story, but someone will absolutely combine a bunch of innovative camera/CGI techniques into a film at some point and call it Citizen Kane.
Like ... imagine if the Matrix was actually about a newspaper tycoon ....

My friend and I were actually having this conversation at lunch and saying how we would make Rosebud a bomb or a super secret government agency bent on taking over the world. Or something.

The trick is to choose a title that is radioactive, or otherwise perfect (Aliens was good for its time, but I bought the DVD last month and couldn't make it all the way through). If you look at the remakes that are out there they are all remaking successful films that are nostalgic to many, have other historical significance, or simply box office appeal ("Let's make it bigger and BADDER!").
My choice for films NEVER to be remade:
1. Delgo
2. Star Wars: A New Hope (Lucasfilm will own it FOREVER)
3. 300
4. Glory
5. Monty Python & the Holy Grail
6. The Matrix
7. Any Indiana Jones
8. North By Northwest

KANE must not, CAN not ever be remade. It would be such a humongous disaster. Also, have you noticed none of the silent era classics have been remade? How about SOME LIKE 'EM HOT? And yes, I am aware that CASABLANCA was remade, but I'm trying to leave such a travesti out of my head.

I knew someone would equate the Hitchcock classic Rear Window with Disturbia. I think Disturbia was more of an homage to the classic rather than a full remake.
But, if you think otherwise, it sort of changes the rules of the game. In that case then there is no end to the remakes possible. In that case, Firefly was a remake of Star Wars.

I agree with Star Wars: A New Hope not being remade
and will also say that The Godfather just CANNOT be remade ... it just can't. PLEASE! It would surely pale in comparison, so why would anyone bother?? Right?!?! All these remakes make me nervous.

Star Wars A New Hope was remade.
They called it a Special Edition. And even with the same actors, same script, and same FOOTAGE... It still sucked.

To Kill a Mockingbird, should never be remade though it would likely be excellent it would be like grave robbing from the first one.

After reading that Plan 9 from Outer Space was being remade, I'd have to say nothing is sacred. Eventually ALL films will be remade.
(BTW, The Wizard of Oz (1939) was a remake; and it was also remade badly as The Wiz.)
