Trailer Park: The Road to Pandorum is Lined With Bad Chipmunks
Filed under: Action, Horror, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Trailer Trash

The Road
This bleak tale of one family trying to survive the apocalypse is based on a Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Cormac McCarthy, author of No Country For Old Men. After some kind of global cataclysm (it's not clear if it's a nuclear war), a man played by Viggo Mortensen must help his son to survive by whatever means necessary. Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce and Robert Duvall also star. This looks darkly fascinating and probably would have gone well with a Cinematical Seven I did not long ago. This one comes out on October 16.
Pandorum
This new trailer reveals quite a bit more than the teaser we saw awhile back. Two men awaken aboard a space craft wondering what's become of the thousands of other crew members. Other people show up as do some scary monster types who may be the mutated crew. Looks like an intersting take on the Alien formula. Watch for this one on September 4.
Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel
I didn't see the first film because it looked pretty awful, although the ridiculous amount of money it made showed that not everybody thought so. This teaser, which involves Alvin, Simon and Theodore doing their rendition of the 20th Century Fox Fanfare is pretty cute and the film should presumably please those who enjoyed the original. This one scurries into theaters on Christmas Day.
Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans
Between Ghost Rider and The Wicker Man, my faith in films starring Nicholas Cage has taken a beating lately, but this reimagining of 1992's Bad Lieutenant has a lot going for it, including Director Werner Herzog, and this not safe for work trailer. I want the phrase "shoot him again, his soul is still dancing" on a t-shirt. No info yet on a U.S. release date.
Dead Snow
(Note: I had trouble getting this trailer to play on Firefox) Nazi zombies? The line forms behind me. How can this not be a good thing? This Norwegian tale of reanimated corpses after a nazi treasure has been out in its native country of Norway since January, but will be getting a limited U.S. release on June 19.
A Perfect Getaway
Action thriller about a newlywed couple hiking on a remote beach in Hawaii. After hearing that another group of tourists was murdered nearby they join up with two other couples and the situation goes from bad to worse. This is from the producers of the Resident Evil movies and they've come over with that series' star Milla Jovovich. Might be moderately interesting, but it has that "wait for the DVD" look about it. It hits theaters on August 14.

Hey guys, fix the Sherlock Holmes description! Johnny Depp is not Holmes, it's Robert Downey Jr. Get your great actors right!

I think there's a mistake above. If Johnny Depp is now playing the lead in SHERLOCK HOLMES instead of Robert Downey, Jr, then Warner Bros has a LOT of reshooting to do!

I love RDJ, but after seeing the trailer for Sherlock Holmes, I'm thinking Depp may have done a better job.

Also, there's a reason CORMAC (note the lack of a K at the end!) McCarthy is a Prize winning author and you are not. HE can spell his name correctly...

What the hell happened to the look of The Road? In the book, everything is covered in ash. The trees are smouldering and topple over like dominos from the weight of snowfall. The look of this film is too bright and clean. If you don't get the environment of the Road right, what's the point? I really looked forward to this one; not so much anymore.

This is to MediaOKra The theme for the movie the Road is hope.
Keep that thought in mind when watching. The trailer is a sham and the Weinstein Bros. had their busy little fingers in it to stir up more box office.
Lord preserve us from hollywood types.
Charlize Theron in the book was just a passing memory. She probably wasn't on the set more than 10 minutes.
The environment was totally scoped out by Hillcoat and if you have read the great review in Esquire It will set you on the right Road.
