'Trick 'r Treat' Won't Wait 'Til Halloween
Filed under: Horror, Warner Brothers, RumorMonger, Distribution, Fantastic Fest
Mike Dougherty's horror anthology film Trick 'r Treat has been bumped back by Warner Bros. for going on two years now, since its premiere at Austin's Butt-Numb-a-Thon back in December of 2007. We wrote up a piece last December wondering where it was, and we shant need to write one up this December, because not only is TrT scheduled for a home video release in October, but it's working up to a roadshow run starting in July.According to Bloody Disgusting, the film will hit several genre festivals -- from FanTasia to Fantastic Fest (squee!) -- and hopes to be booked in other theaters along the way. Those who know of any ideal venues to show the film have been encouraged to contact Dougherty himself through either his Twitter account or his MySpace page.
Now, I know several colleagues who loved or at least liked it, though one cautions not to get our hopes up too high. I'm all for keeping expectations in check, but if anything, I'm slightly more for supporting apparently good and genuinely original horror offerings. It's like my equivalent of asking you to prevent forest fires, only instead of forest fires, we're talking Prom Night sequels. Ya dig?

With all the crap they put out every year WHY would they not put out a movie that seems to scream HALLOWEEN OCTOBER 31st....BE THERE???!!!! It just seems like the smart move. SCREW ANOTHER SAW MOVIE ON HALLOWEEN!!!! GIVE ME SOMETHING DIFFERENT!! It has to be better than the upcoming SAW 6: THE QUEST FOR JIGSAWS GOLD IN THE KINGDOM OF THE PHANTOM MENACE!!!!!

I fully agree Doom. Here is a movie that looks like it could just be a whole hell of a lot of fun in the vein of those "Creepshow" movies and has a line of people eager to see it, it has Anna Paquin who's got recogntion and currently associated with similar material in "True Blood" and they can't find a way to promote/sell this movie so it will make a sucessful theatre run? While Saw X will probobly get greenlighted five years before it even comes out.

It is ridiculous.I am so tired of seeing all the new predictable Halloween movies. They are all so typical and not scary at all.I am so ready for something fresh and new.I have faith that someday this movie will be successful. We are all ready.I saw this trailer on a new release movie,so I think it's coming out in October, hopefully. Can't wait,as I'm sure I'm not the only one.

And Anna is perfect for this role. She's got those characteristics of the fantasy girl role. She's awesome at portraying Sookie Stackhouse in True Blood. That's one of the reasons I'm really looking foward to watching to watching this. She's a good actress.
